Question. i believe its the crank case breather tube that runs infront of the engine down infront of the powersteering pump. it leaves an awful mess all over the front diffrential. i am curious what kind of things people have done to reroute the line or whatever to keep it a little cleaner. any feed back would be great. thanks.

I took the bottle off and stuck a piece of pvc pipe in its place. The pipe is long enough to be just below the cross member that lies under the engine.

I took a chunk of 1" fuel hose and found it fit right over the end of the tube. Lost the bottle and hotwashed the mess off the front of the motor, think of it as rust protection for the under side. :-laf

Cummins sells an environtmental kit that flows air out and oil back to the sump

Yep! That's what I installed after the sock on the bottle relocated to the torson bar, and I still had an oil mess to change from time to time. Hands down I think the kit install was one of my best upgrades. No more worries, no more mess up front... ... Oo. :-laf:-laf:-laf

Any idea what the part number is on that kit?

I've relocated mine with a two foot length of irrigation tube, zip tied, but I think a real honest to god kit might be a better idea LOL

I took the bottle off, put on 8ft of hose and ran it back in frt and down near the tank. Works great. Dont care if it drips on occassion. I havr a detroit diesel that slobbers a lot so I put a catch tank on it. Still leaks elsewhere. Moe

The Enviroguard kit is the best addition I've made to my truck for best long term value. If you can get the little plug removed from the block flange you're golden. I think I paid $350 from the local Cummins dealer.

I did pretty much the same thing with my truck and the wifes truck but I made the PVC pipe long enough to reach down to the front sway bar and zip tied the PVC pipe to the sway bar. Keeps the undersid of the truck and my front differential rust free. :D;)

You can check Hoesli Diesel's website. Look up the right one for your engine. It is the Fleetguard (manufacturer) Enviroguard.

I too am starting to think about doing something with this oil mess. I have got a new vacuum pump seal kit but after working underneath I think the mess is from my tube mostly. I think for now I am just gonna extend my tube a little and clean things up and whatch for a while.

If you live in a cold climate, do not extend the hose too far (like to the fuel tank area), or the condensation will freeze at the end of the hose and you will blow seals in the engine. SNOKING

This issue just keeps on repeatedly popping up like "Ford owns Cummins", and "What oil is best for my engine/transmission"... :-laf:-laf

Here's what has worked on my '02 since new - and up here in zero degree winter temps:

Wanna simply extend the tube, and dump the slop somewhere else under yer truck - like all over yer friends nice clean driveway? have at it! #@$%!

ME, I'll simply change out that oil absorbing outer sock material every oil change or so while I'm under the truck anyway - not much else to do under there - other than admire how DRY and CLEAN the underside of my truck is:

Rather spend boo-koo $$$ on some fancy aftermarket plumbing? Go for it - we'll instead spend the $$$ on a few steak dinners out with family and friends!

The "KISS" principle still is working well out here in the John Day Oregon area! ;):p

I routed mine with 6ft of heater core hose to just underneath the drivers door by the frame. Hopefully its not too long to freeze up. I havent had a drop of oil come out of it yet and I rerouted it in spring. I do get steam but no oil drops yet.
