Latest reflash for '07.5?

I have had no problems with my '07. It has 83,000+ kms on it and has been to the dealer 2x, once for the firewall recall and the 2nd time for the BA flash. More than half the total kms have occurred with our 8,000 lb travel trailer hooked up along with 1,000 lbs in the box. I have towed the trailer all over Alberta and BC. It is a great truck. It loves to work.

The 6. 7 in the 07 truck is a wolf in Rams clothing, mine had the water pump go out, had the converter plug up and catch on fire, lost a throwout bearing at 80k miles and had to replace the complete dual mass clutch flywheel set up, it plugged the egr setup twice so far, it was reflashed several times and seems to be liveable now, stay away from the 6,7 in the 07, they have used them to be the guinea pigs and screw the drivers with all of the downtime and money and towing bills to fix something that should have never been released to the public, the updates have seemed to be doing ok in the newer trucks 08 09 10s acording to just reading this forum. I will never buy another diesel truck from any maker, the emission added downtime service and added cost of keeping it in service negates the investment required to go from gas to diesel, they dont tell you about the low milage, added maintance and having to have the egr and converter replaced every 100k miles at over $2500. What the point in owning a diesel truck, buy a hemi truck and forget the dodge cummins or buy a 06 with the last 5. 9 cummins in it somewhere, that truck will become highly desired and collectable, the 1th 6. 7 trucks will be junkyard 1th rowers in the crusher due to the loss of service and engine life due to the emissions added to a great design. I would love to have a new 4x4 3500 with the manual transmission and hemi, 6. 7 is dealer mechanic repair bay hog!!!!!

There you go again, bad mouthin the 6. 7. I haven't had any of those problems. Could it be operator error maybe ??? 600 miles away from 300K and still kicken butt... .

26,700 mi and no issues at all. It has been to a dealer for a couple flashes, oil changes and fuel filters. Otherwise it drives by dealers getting 18 mpg. I would not be afraid of the 6. 7l.

202K miles on my 07 6. 7 G56 and have only had clutch problems, though South Bend thinks the input shaft on the trans needs replaced. The 6. 7 has been perfect with zero issues! It is a bit smelly when the windows are down, but I have gotten used to it.

My '08 cab and chassis has been troublefree for 68,000 miles. It set a trouble code when it had something like 20k miles on the odometer but cleared itself after I hooked up my fiver and drove 300 miles to my dealer of choice.

This is my third Dodge-Cummins. I put 325k miles on an '01 HO/six speed, 230k miles on an '06 w/48RE, and plan to drive this one a long time. So far it is as good as the first two.

I would happily and confidently buy another ISB6. 7.

Nobody who knows the first thing about a truck intended to be used for towing or hauling would choose a hemi gas engine in a heavy four wheel drive pickup.

If your past 80K you should ponder the DPF delete and cure your emissions, maintenance and fuel mileage issues instantly. Why in the world would you ever want to buy a heavy duty truck with a **** poor 1/2 ton gas engine. Try to work a Hemi like you do a diesel and you'll open yourself up to a whole new world of problems. Sink a few grand into what you've got and it'll outlast a fleet of Hemi's and get 18 mpg's. Plus if you buy a Hemi HD it's going to be worth 1/2 of what you pay for it the second you drive it off the lot. It sounds like you've had some issues to gripe about but talking about a gas HD is crazy talk. You see a lot of GM guys sporting gasser grocery getter HD's but the Dodge bunch is the most Diesel diehard bunch for good reason!

There you go again, you removed your emission eq and deleted, I did not and chose to run to 100k for the remainder of the warranty.

My 09 Auto is working perfectly. . I have yet to tow much. I only have 6000 miles but no trips to the dealer yet. . Did the first free oil change but that is it

You are still clueless to the facts stated in the forum over and over in these forums!!! Many Many of the 1th gen 6. 7 spent lots of downtime in the shops broken down and waiting on parts, when you use a truck to make a living with every day this is not acceptable, I am not retired and able to waste money and time driving around looking for parts or a real 6. 7 mechanic 4 counties over like you do. The 6. 7 if still not updated with the newest flash is a undependable unit in a 2007.

Gas engines in the 3500 are offered and they do not have all of the emission problems or constant cel. Go to some of there forums and see for your self. You can not make money when a truck is waiting on parts or needing $5000 worth of repairs a year to emmision eq and water pumps the 1th 100k miles. If you can't pull they dont pay, simple as that!! Better to have a gas engine truck that is dependable with lower repair bills and not all of the downtime serivce like the 6. 7 produces. Why do you think there is a class action lawsuit going on these trucks, did peeps just make up all of the problems so they could come in here and complain???LMAO

i have an 07 2500 mega cab i bought it 3/08 the truck would start going into limp mode about 3 months after i bouhgt it the turbo and dpf were cleaned by the dealer at 12,000 mi at 24,000 i brought it back in for the same problem

this time they replaced the turbo thank God it was under warranty

after that i immediately replaced the stock exhaust with h&s 4" from turbo to muffler and blocked off the egr when i removed the intake tube to cut out the flapper it was caked with soot

i had a ppe tuner at the time and it wouldn't clear the c. e. l. that the dpf delete kit gave and the little lightning bolt on the dash

after i couldn't tolerate it anymore i broke down and bought h&s xrt tuner and cleared up all c. e. l. 's

my truck does about 50/50 heavy towing and daily driving but also has alot of idling time

love the truck, love the engine and trans, but hate the epa and all their stupid regulations!

Anyway: 1/27/10 class action suit filed in South Carolina against Chrysler LLC for '07-'09 6. 7's

main point being: exhaust system is permenently defective because it fails to effectively rid itself of diesel particulates through regen process, causing soot to accumulate in the dpf, turbo, egr, o2 senosrs etc and requires those parts to be regularly replaced, repaired, or cleaned... . so via warranty there is permanent defects yada yada yada

defendant claimed that '07 6. 7L had fuel savings of 20-40%; in '07 price of diesel option increased $495 to $6100 and ultra clean diesel system charge $995

defects in exhaust can't be repaired or remedied through repairs, replacements, or adjustments... dealers repeatedly told purchasers "after their purchase" to change their driving habits by driving with exhaust brake on, driving very hard on highway, avoiding idle time... change in driving habits does notg remedy the inherent and permanent exhaust system defects... . owners will be required to expend significant sums of money after their warranties expire to repair, replace, adjust, clean dpf, turbo, egr, sensors etc... purchasers could no have discovered defect through reasonable inspection at time of purchase... . vehicles resale value hurt big time... ...

I am dreading the day when my warranty expires, I will be passing the hat from all of you guys to help me pay my bills, opps, bet nobody will bail me out i am my own bank!!!!!!

You are absolutely correct. I agree with you 100%. I hope you buy another truck and go away ASAP so you can whine somewhere els.

you state "undependable unit in the 2007"

I would like to add 2008 not much better - if at all

10th time in dealer to be fixed yesterday - have to order the new cp3... . warranty covers but 10 times in the dealer in 28 months and have to go a 11th time???? have a

'99 chevy gasser with big miles... never been in the shop that many times in 10 years... . when the warranty is up,,,,will have to decide what to do,,,,not feeling too good 'bout my dodge

More Whining:

It's my fault - I bought it, '08 mega cab, always wanted a cummins, have driven it in the city, idled it probably 4 minutes once in a while, didn't drive it like I stole it, didn't load it up and go over the mountains once a week.....

My 2008 has been perfectly trouble free for over 70,000 miles. I idle it frequently when it is convenient or preferable for me to do so. I don't follow recommended oil change intervals but do use quality Valvoline oil and Cummins filters.

But I never had all the transfer pump and injection pump failures with my '01 or the injector problems with my '06 either.

I've never had to replace any front end parts either except for sealed bearing hubs at around 210,000 miles.

Update - 11th time in dealer for the new cp3 - cool dealer lets you watch & visit with the tech, watched the whole process as I want to fix this truck. He had to take off the intake to get to the cp3. When tech went to remove the intake horn he said "you aren't going to want to see this. " I expected grid heater to be caked - it wasn't too bad. BUT there was an approximately 1. 5" solid triangle of soot buildup in the intake horn where it met the grid heater. Now what do you suppose the EGR has built up farther down the intake track into the head????? Nasty EGR. Anyway truck is up and running again. Yesterday did visit #12 to fix the sirius radio receiver..... man it's gettin old going into the dealer - just keep my calandar clean on Thursdays I guess. On the 11th visit there were 4 used bluetechs on the lot 26 to 50k miles 2 used for towing and 2 not. On visit #12 there were 10 used bluetechs on the lot. Doesn't look to good for trading mine in... . Needs to be fixed.

Thanks. This forum is therapy.

2Rowdy -

don't know what they were asking, would be more interested in what they could get out of 'em... . but I'll check on visit #13... hopefully that won't be for a couple months... should be more sellection then anyway... . and yah wouldn't it be great to have two of 'em? surely they both wouldn't have to be in the shop @ the same time leaving you with transportation

My complements on how you fixed your rig.

Bought new 07. 5 in Sept of 07. Kept up on flashes. Change oil and filter at 5000. Sitting at 26,000 miles now. Glad I went to 6. 7, even though at the time, still many 5. 9's available. No problems. Mixed use, commute, ski trips, trailer pulling.
