pictures of Redone coating on Rocker panels

I wanted to show pic's of the bedliner/coating that I used its been on now for 6-7 months wanted to show how its holding up. I had rhino lining on the truck before for almost 4 years and had alot of chipping, bad fading and the shop that did it did a horrible job. so I decided to take off the Rhino lining on all edges to be done straighter, and took off all chipping and pealing areas. I also took out lights and fender flares and did the lining tracing the flares and lights, due to the flares and lights rubbing into the paint and exposing metal this also gave me a chance to finally put liner on the step bars that were made. tell me what you think.

the liner I used can be spayed or rolled on, I rolled it on. plus this stuff is not expensive.

Dieselworks,

Looks great!

I had my lower 12" sprayed with Speedliner with Kevlar early on after I bought my truck. It's held up well but I will probably pull my flares off and coat under them also.

Looks really good! How long did it take you to apply?

the longest was the prep, tape off the lines and sand would be the clear coat and rough paint. or in the case of the old liner I was going over in some spots. I roughed up with a wire brush/wheel and I used xylene to wipe down and remove any oils etc. redid the tape and then mix the liner and apply. I put on 3-4 coats pending the spots. more on the step bars. tried to alter the direction of coating do this is a no wind or bug area. did this in morning was done by lunch and the truck was not 100% cured by evening but not tacky was not sticky come the next day. this was in 60 degree weather. so higher temps would help.

very nice, did you spray or roll it? Been thinking about doing this to my truck and like the way yours looks for a DIY. I cant afford to have it Line-X'd or Rhinoed so DIY is a big thing for me.

you can spray it or roll it. I have used this stuff on other vehicles so rolling wasn't a big deal. its the prep work that takes some time but its not much money and you can do it the way you want. I like this stuff better than the Rhino I had before. if you end up doing this down the road you can always let me know and I can tell you some of the tips. also if you order this talk to them in person and ask for extra rollers they are cheap and needed... .

I'm restoring my VW bug and am looking for something that would be a good undercoating in the fender wells and on the inside of the fenders themselves. I don't want reversed rock chips to crack the paint from underneath. Do you think this may do the trick?

I would think it would be great for that. you could prime the area and apply this. they have a grip surface like this and they make a smooth coating. . if you go on the website and look at the gallery this shows some vehicles including the frame done.

How cool is that. I just finished doing my own home version.

Local shops for Rhino Liner or similar want $300 a side, NOT including the interior doors

I used the Dupli Color Bed coating in a can.

I've been using this for all sorts of different projects that take a lot of abuse and it's holding up extremely well.

I spent hours prepping but well worth the money saved.

looks good I think you have a straighter eye than me. I did the inside of the doors also but just the step areas. I like the inside of your doors they look really clean. . also if I remember I had a 04. 5 before and the door seals where crappy does the thickness of your liner help at all with the gunk coming in. .

Nope. They're still crappy and all the gunk still get in. I even replaced all the seals, top to bottom with the "Updated" versions and they still suck.
