Bypass Filter on Full Flow Filter Housing

I know I am going to get a lot of crap for this, but I have to ask. How bad would it be for the engine to replace the full flow oil filter with a bypass filter also to go along with the bypass filter that I have installed on my truck? Just curious.

If you want to buy a new engine it's a great idea. Even the great Cummins engine relies on a "full flow" of oil.

They just can't flow enough to keep the engine properly lubed. If they did then I would assume we could get tighter full flow filter, but as it stands right now the Amsoil/Donaldson is the best at 20um @ 100%, 15um @ 98. 7%, and 7um @ 59. 97%.



But hey, and Amsoil bypass will spin on, so if you try it let us know how it works out for you!

The 8 "return" holes are really "feed" holes. Dirty oil goes in the 8, then comes out the center. Is this correct?

Correct, they filter from the outside in.

It may be in a Kubota but it is still a Cummins 5. 9. Unless you are worried about Dodge warranty, which most of us don't have, or you don't want to spend the extra cash, why not? Shadrach

I would be more worried about blowin an engine than anything else. If it was that simple why wouldnt they just approve it.

I would NOT Do THAT! If your taliking about the Amsoil By-pass filter element, it is only designed for roughly 6-8 quarts of oil flow, as the filtering media is so fine. If you were to put the Amsoil By-pass element in place of a "Full-flow" element, you would be asking for trouble! DON'T DO IT!
