have 05, standard shift--built before Dec. 04

is the ECM bypass a good idea??

is the clutch switch a good idea??

also about how many hr. to install by a (good?? mechanic??)ha,ha

thanks for any insight, Rocky in NM

I run my EB on by Oct 04 build 2005 truck thru the ECM, wouldn't have it any other way. No need for a ECM bypass or clutch switch.

X2 - mine works perfectly.
My only suggestion is to mount it someplace besides the front of the eng like the instructions say. In NM you don't have issues with the pump freezing anyway and putting it up there just cooks the pump and relay. I relocated mine to behind the battery on the passenger side.

Exh Brake

It took me a good 6 hours alone to install my brake. I reccommend the switch that mounts on the shifter which makes it easy to turn on or off. The hardest part was mounting the brake on the exhaust and getting it all to line up. I removed tne right front wheel and inner fender which gave me easy access to the exhaust. Good luck.....

I agree 100% pull the fender liner(s) as it makes it very easy, Shifter mount is a must, I wish I had put in the clutch petal cancel sw, ( I may still do it) as unless you switch off , or hold the throttle pedal the brake stays on between shifts. I used an aftermarket air system (viair) as for the same cost of the pac pump I have on-board air. A bonus is under the hood the truck looks stock. .

my $0. 02

Thanks all for the input.

I have a HURST shifter in mine,so I can not mount the switch on the shifter!! with every plus, there is a minus. lol

where do you guys think would be a good alternative?? Saw where they did the automatics on left side—I guess mine needs to be on the rt. Side of the dash.

Also the clutch switch sound like a good idea.

bcbender, Don't you have a 2 second delay before the Pac comes on? This works great on mine and gives me enough time to shift without it needlessly coming on.

Which Hurst shifter do you have? I run both the pistol grip and the EB switch.

Clutch switch is not necessary.

You should still be able to get the shifter mounted switch, just don't get the push-pull they rattle like a SOB!

you were so right, my truck was parked a bit of a way from the house--did not look at the shifter--it is round at the top--and then flattens out--so I had to scramble like heck to get it added to my order.

my bad, I should have looked at the shifter--we just use the truck for vacation, and little work projects:eek:
