Question SRT10 Hood

Does anone know for sure whether the cowl on the SRT10 hood is actually HIGHER then the OEM hood w/o cowl on our trucks??



I have a chance to pick up a good deal on a SRT10 hood which I want to put on my 2005 CTD.



I definitely like the way they look on our trucks, BUT I am also hoping that the SRT10 hood provides an extra couple of inches clearance OVER the top of the valve cover compared to the standard hood.



I plan to mount a Spinner2 Centrifugal oil filter on TOP of the oil filler cap. My oem hood does not quite close with the filter on top, but I am hoping that the cowl in the SRT10 hood will add a minimum of 2" clearance.



Has anybody seen the two types of hoods side by side to know for sure whether the cowl goes higher then the standard hood or if the scoop goes DOWN into the engine compartment or if it is a little of BOTH ?



MEASUREMENTS would be ideal, but opinions are also welcomed.

The cross-rib reinforcement on the underside of the hood does have a step in it, maybe an inch. I placed a 2. 75" deep box on the oil cap and it appeared the hood would close normally, but I would estimate the clearance wouldn't exceed 3" and might be a bit less unless you want to midify the hood brace.
