Is there a difference between brands steering box stabilizers and what is the best. I notice there is a price difference. I have ordered a Lufe Link for the TB and I am considering a SS. How do you know when you need one. The truck does wander some and never has had a wobble (knock on wood) I use the truck for my 8' slide in and to tow a jeep. The tuck has stock tires and no lift and has 88,000 miles. I am the original owner. Thanks for the help.

I have been very impressed with the two SS I ordered from source automotive.

Had a y2k the SS cleared up all the wandering my current 02 helped but the ball joints need done also.

My preference is for the Defiant Steering box stabilizer, but AFAIK, Paul at Defiant is NOT making them anymore.

That being said, ALL of the SBS seem to do the job that they were designed to do, which is remove almost all of the stress that the Ram front end suspension design places on the steering box, through the steering sector shaft. In fact, the box beam design of all of them are all mostly identical (with the exception of Defiant's, which some people felt to be inferior, but I am pretty sure was actually a slightly better designed product). The only real difference in quality to watch out for would be that the quality of finish (powdercoat) may vary from fabricator to fabricator. In fact, IIRC, the early BD stabilizers were NOT finished well and tended to flake paint, though they may well have overcome this problem at some point as do not read complaints about it anymore.

I also hold no doubts that Source Automotive only carries high quality products and certainly you can't beat the integrity of their customer service!!

I just ordered my from Hell Bent Steel and it is high quality! It has a powder coat finish and is definitely made to last! It installed easy and I am extremely happy so far! I replaced the track bar and aligned it at the same time, but the difference was dramatic! Just my $. 02

the best way to see if you need one is to look on the hood and the door. If the hood has a doge emblem on it and the door has a cummins badge then you need one

It may be a little late, but I have had 0 issus with my DSS from Solid Steel out of Canada.

All box braces do the same thing: they use a pillow/flange bearing to locate the sector shaft.

The only difference is how they attach to the truck and if they will hinder an after market sway bar or not.
