Anyone have any luck diagnosing a p2127 code. I'm not noticing really any throttle issues and the truck is flashing the code when cold. I've just reset the code and will see if it flashes again. I'm assuming from what I've read its probably time to change the APPS out. Any thoughts on this issue. Thanks

If our throttles are hall-effect style like many others then it probably means one of the internals of the APPS doesn't agree with the other. Your APPS may be failing.

Hall effect is like the CPS where the sensor does not touch the tone ring but the teeth moving thru the magetic field of the sensor henerate a pulse.

The APPS is nothing but a glorified potentiometer just like a TPS. It has an arm and needle somewhat like a record player that runs on a piece of metal the farther up or down the strip of metal in relationship to throttle position changes the resistance in the signal.

Like anything else that is metal to metal it wears and develops flat spots in the signal. The APPS is a dual potentiometer but when both sides don't agree it starts throwing codes to tell one it is wearing out. At least the algorithms in the ECU are good enough it doesn't totally foul up the driveability like the older ones.

Thanks Prarie dog, I appreciate the explanation. I've come to realize this truck isn't as simple as my 96 in most ways. Thanks again and take care
