Napa Lower Ball Joint Question

Napa #2601579 ball joints.



I bought these last time and the zerk was angled.



Now the zerk is located in the center. Even if I put a 90 degree zerk in, I don't think I'll have enough clearance for a grease nozzel.



Anyone buy these lately?

Just put a second set of moogs in mine. The first set was center positioned, they could onlt be greased with a 90deg adaptor still hard to do. Universal did contact the zerk a couple of times, wiping it out. Went back for this set and they sold me a different part number with the grease fitting drilled on the outer edge, makes it a cake walk to grease. Didn't research it, but may have sold me the wrong joint the first time, maybe for a 2 wd.

That's what I had. I bought the same part# but zerk is location is different.

both times I changed mine they were in the center, McQuay Norris is the mfg. either use a plug or a straight fitting, remove when its time to grease and use a 90,,, its a pain but no other choice

I greased mine before installing axle shaft, then installed the plug.

Grease administered through the boot with a needle may be of some benefit. My signature truck at 72K miles still has all its original front end parts and I expect the original tires to last 85-90K miles. I did drill and tap the uppers for a grease fitting, and the right upper has developed a very small amount of play- so small that a shot of grease will get rid of it.



This also includes occasional trips on the Cross Bronx Expressway, which is a shorter, (supposedly paved) version of the Baja 1000.
