Hello again, guys. I'm about to change the coolant in my 2007. 5 RAM 3500/6. 7L. The instructions call for HOAT coolant. There is some difference in opinion at the auto parts store where I purchased a couple of gallons of Zerex GO5 antifreeze. The bottle is unclear as to whether this is HOAT-type antifreeze. It DOES state that it is good for Cummins engines, supposedly up to present. It appears to me that this is the right stuff but one guy says no, the other yes (confusing??).

Can anyone here give me a definitive answer? Is Zerex GO5 the right stuff? I hate to damage my engine. Thanks in advance... .

Thank you, Harvey. I was pretty certain it was the correct stuff but because of the differences of opinion some others had I wanted to be sure. I was also concerned about the color difference. The original coolant is a sort of orange, the Zerex is yellowish, IIRC. Thanks again.....

One further question, Harvey. If all the old coolant isn't flushed out will there be any compatibility issues if the two coolants are mixed? Thanks again...

I'm neither a chemist or anti-freeze expert but I would confidently drain what I could then refill with a 50% mix of HOAT anti-freeze and distilled water. That's all a dealer would do.

pure antifreeze freezes at about 30* dupont got in a dispute with the postal service when there boxes were marked keep from freezing. they now ship all antifreeze with some water added and not all use the same amount. pure antifreeze will not cool. look on the jug and see the maximum protected temp ratio of water to antifreeze is and use that. this is where it has maximum cooling

I trust you mean "minus" 30. Pure water cools better than any mixture of AF. All the AF does is help to raise the boiling point, it doesn't cool any better.

Flush it good with distilled water and start eng when do so. This will get about 90% of old out. put in G-05 then fill with distilled water add water pump lub. Good luck

Are the 6. 7's subject to "Air-Dome" . This refers to a pocket of air that is difficult to dislodge. I've experienced this problem with smaller engines , primarily when the block inlet and outlet are at similar heights.

Any cogent thoughts?

Yes, I think they are. My C&C is only a little over four years old now and I won't change the coolant until about next January when it is age five but there are enough similarities to the HPCR 5. 9s I think this truck will need to have a hose clamp on the EGR cooler or something high opened to bleed off the air bubble.

On my 2500 there is a bleed screw up by the EGR that looks to be the highest point, I am not sure where it originates from but that may be enough to bleed out the air when refilling. Does the C&C 6. 7 have a similar bleed screw?
