More changes?

Hello out their

Yeah, I still have the same problem to. Cleared all cookies, cache and temporary files and it still takes me to the log in page. Tried it with google chrome, internet explorer, firefox, another laptop with windows XP, this laptop with Windows 7 professional. They all do the same thing. Go to the home page, click on new posts, go to the log in page, log in, check the remember me, finish up. Close out the window, re-enter home page, go to log in and do it all over again.

Dave

You shouldn't have to close that window. I just did it as you described and it worked fine here on two different PC's. When you are on the login page and it's asking for yourTry this - go to the forums at https://www.turbodieselregister.com/forums and login on the upper right there. If that doesn't work PM me your phone number and I'll call you on the phone and see if we can get it straightened out for you.

Steve,

When you get time I guess I need a search tutorial. I used to be able to search like a wild thing on here with excellent results. Now I am a failure... .....

I am not doing it correctly and have not had a lot of time to fool with it. When you get a chance.

Thanks,

Mike.

Hi Steve,
I guess what I am trying to say Is I go to the home page http://turbodieselregister.com/. Then I go to the upper left on the bar and bring down the Discussions Forum and click on new posts which sends me here http://turbodieselregister.com/forums/search.php?do=getnew&exclude=145. Then I scroll down that page which already has my user name and password in the blocks and click log in which then takes me to the new posts. I have always went to the home page and clicked on new posts which took me directly to the new posts, not a log in page. If I use the link you posted it does take me to the all forums page and I select new posts it does take me to the new post page. I have been trying and prefer to start at turbodieselregister.com that way I see any updated news on that page.

Dave

OK I just tried this, started at turbodieselregister.com, went to the discussion forums drop down box and selected main forum directory which took me to the forums page then selected new posts on the upper left which took me to the new posts. Maybe I have to learn a new routine and not select new posts on the home page which then sends me to the log in page. I know it is getting late where you are Steve so I will not bother you tonight.

Dave

Steve,

I'm experiencing hangups. When I draft a reply on TDR and click on the Post Quick Reply button nothing happens forcing me to close the thread and start over.

I copied this error message. Perhaps it will tell you something useful like it is my computer's problem:

Hi: I am having a problem looking at some of the forums using the drop-down menu at the top of the page. I can see all the forums except the 5. 9 and the 12 valve engine. When I select those forums, I get the bad URL message.
Thanks

Seems I need to log in every time I come to the site. Am I missing something.

Dave

I've noticed the same thing. PC with Windows Vista.

My browser opens TDR with my login shown, but some new windows open that don't recognize me as logged in. I can't say that it's all newly opened windows showing this behavior, but I have noticed some that are asking me for login information again.

Perhaps this is related to issue that DavidC and jgillott have noticed?

Best regards,

John

That does sound like something wrong on your end - I can't think of anything that could be on the site that would cause something like that. I'd try doing a virus scan - in safe mode and in regular mode. If you need help with how to do that PM me and I can walk you through it.

I would try clearing your internet temporary files in your browser. It sounds like it's caching the old version of the menu for some menu items.

John, if you can come up with any sort of pattern it might help me to narrow it down. I've browsed around on multiple PC's on several different operating systems and many different browsers and haven't been able to replicate the problem.

Thanks for the hard work!

As of the last few days, I get no "View First Unread" header on threads that I have visited. I logged out, cleared cookies etc. no joy.

I am using Firefox 14. 0. 1 and have been using Firefox for years.

Thanks!

Steve,

I haven't been around frequently enough to pinpoint any commonalities. I also noticed today that the two posts I quoted with my issue are actually older than I realized. I vaguely remember when posting the other day that I only saw one (MAYBE two) page(s) of this thread - without realizing dates on the post; nor did I realize that the posts I quoted were many days old, and that you'd already addressed what could be the issue I experienced. (did that sound run-on?... . )

Point of that diatribe - I could have seen another weird glitch, between the new software and my PC settings for renewing/releasing cookies for TDR to recognize. I'll try and pay more attention, and if I find anything worth mentioning I'll send you a note.

Thanks for checking back,

John

When I go to Subscription Status I get nothing. Blank page!

We became aware of that issue on tuesday and I've been working on it on and off since. They completely changed how the templates work in vB4 and I'm having a tough time getting the data to appear on the page - I'm 90% of the way there but have hit a snag. I've posted for help on another site and hope to have it resolved this weekend.

Good GOD, man!! I feel for you!! This is a task, to say the least!! I feel for ya'!! Well, keep up the good work, it's growing on me... . :D

You'll only get those on threads that have unread posts since the last time you were on. It doesn't keep track of specific threads that you have actually read - it just knows when you were last on the site and will show that to you on threads that have posts since then. Keep in mind that if you are inactive for 15 minutes it sees that as a new visit and resets that last login date.

I read the post about using the tabs at the top to navigate the site instead of links lower in the page. I guess I'm doing ok now.
Thanks for the reply though.
