I get where your going with the Earth friendly part but we have used Burts bees products and I like them we spend a good portion of the day out side and the sunscreen is better than slathering some CHEMICAL on you body to protect . Same goes with the bug repellent read the in and outs about Deet DO YOU REALLY WANT THAT ANY PLACE NEAR YOU? sure you have to apply Burts a little more often but it works out because with Deet you will have more to cover when you grow a 3rd arm or 2ond head.

Greenleaf,
You need to remember their mission statement is to make money, correct? They are trying to sell their product in "The Land of the Fruits and Nuts" (CA) mostly. To get into this country I mean state they need to state that they are Earth friendly or they could not sell their product there.
To me this is just like organic food. My definition of organic food; is that the food is fertilized with animal scat and urine and this is good for you right. Just think of the mice scat from Yosemite Park on the food.

Organic means that it was grown WITHOUT the chemicals and other processing crap that is KNOWN to cause problems in humans. Haven't we seen enough evidence of the steroids that are injected into to our food chain to show how harmful this is. Think about it we are at an ALL TIME HIGH for cancer and other organ diseases in our history. Why then do we continue to eat DOW CHEMICAL lettuce and DUPONT laced fruit mainly because you have to, most have neither the time or place to grow the food. Yes you forgot to add that organic even uses NITROHUMAS human I TRIED TO BY-PASS THE CUSSING FILTER one the best fertilizers known just ask the Japanese they have the longest life span of most of the world we Americans eat WAY TO MUCH that is bad for us in our sedentary lives no one REALLY gets out and works. All the chemicals just set in and are absorbed into our bodies to cause the above problems. And then we feel bad and sorry for ourselves and go out and have a GIANT ORDER OF GREASE to calm our nerves.

If you think that a mouse is one of the only problems DONT go to a packing house you wont go for the Berger so fast next time your out and get hungry

Nothing a little flame can't cook off:).

Big is right. Lord only knows what crap they spray or inject into our food. Next week, I'm fencing off about an 1/2 acre just for growing our own fruits and veggies. I have lots of citrus trees already but they will be replaced once the news produce. I also jumped into the chicken business this year. We give away more eggs than we eat but I feel much better knowing where they came from.

Good for you Mr JH I like working in the field with the wife growing our own food and growing more to give to the other family members that dont have the time. I think I should have bought stock in Ball Jar's we have got enough food to last thru the apocalypse and beyond with all the canning the wife has done.

Eggs are my favorite thing I can eat them anyway and even raw crack the shell and bottoms up Ya!!!!!!!!!!!! that will give ya some protein :-laf
We have added to the egg chicken population by a bunch my SIL takes them to her Cafe for use. (yes even up here there is a disclaimer that tells of the use of farm fresh ingredients used) We were sitting in the cafe the other day and some tourists were having breakfast and noted SOMETHING IS WRONG WITH MY EGGS SIL went over and took a look and asked what is wrong? the yokes are ORANGE. :-laf SIL went and re-cooked their order with store bought eggs all were happy. I took the others and started eating them THEY ASKED YOUR GOING TO EAT THOSE??????????? THATS SICK. Yes I am my girls gave their all so I could get these gathered up and to the cafe THIS MORRINING!!! Want to really make them think get some GUINNIE Hens they have fun eggs. Just feed them different things and the eggs turn different colors THEY REALLY GO NUTS ON THAT. :-laf
People are so stupid about what they shove down their necks its unbelievable.

Yeah Buddy, BIG!
I remember them dark orange yolks and the choice between Chicken ,duck and turkey eggs fer breakfast. Home cured ham and a whole room full of canned goods in Ball Mason Jars! Hmmm, I wonder how many folks really understand "fertilizer"? A manure spreader was standard equipment on farms as long as I can remember, even if it was a horse drawn stake bed wagon with two strong boys standing on the back with pitch forks slinging I TRIED TO BY-PASS THE CUSSING FILTER as Grandaddy drove around the fields. Animal dung has been the standard fertilizer for several centuries, in the USA. Human dung to a lesser degree. However, overseas!! You folks that have never left our shores have a big shocker! Most countries have no issue with using human dung in their fields. In Asia, it is SOP!
Wake up and taste the raspberries that grow on your leachfield! Mighty tasty!

The "green movement" is about transferring the green in your wallet to theirs. Nothing more. It's all junk science and only airheads and fools believe it. To be a good card carrying leftist you have to earn your merit badge by speaking green speak. In Texas we don't do green.

For once I agree with ya Harvey the Green is a movement and I dont agree with a bunch of it. But we do need to watch what we do with somethings that dont go back to the earth so easy Plastics and some other things that are left to accumulate and collect in a dark corner until it becomes a problem and have to be dealt with. But global warming is a joke its an Earth Cycle IMO

Using manure is Ok if it is dried out properly if not you got a lot of nasty bacteria that could put you 6 feet under (They usually use farm animal manure).

I also think that organic stuff is all about charging you more than it is worth.

I have no problems with insecticides, pesticides, herbicides, fungicides if used properly and most farmers learned from their Father's and/or went to an agricultre college to be come farmer. They also have goverment agencies to keep an eye on the farmers if they get a little crazy with a chemical.

They have been banning the worst(for the enviroment and sometimes people) chemicals for the last ten years here in Florida and coming up with friendlier ones.

The Strawberry Farmer I used to got thru used to use the most popular insecticide but it was going to be fazed out so he started researching and testing other new ones out. The old pesticide you couldn't go back into the field for three days after spraying and he would't eat them without washing them first. The new stuff an hour after you sprayed them you could eat them right off the plant.

But what ever you like!

I have a sneaking suspicion that "todays" chemicals are worse for the human body VS "yesterdays" chemicals. Forgive me if I'm wrong but it appears that enviro's are more concerned about the supposed impact on the earth over human health. Most enviro's could care less if 1/2 the earth's population died off tomorrow.

The part about the Government agencies to keep an eye on things REALLY??? WELL WE DONT NEED TO GO THERE DO WE?

In Salinas/Watsonville CA they grow a bunch of Iceberg lettuce most on this site have more than likely eaten some. When they spray they had one guy on the tractor with a respirator and one guy walking in front of the tractor with a respirator on JUST IN CASE THE GUY ON THE TRACTOR BECAME OVERCOME BY THE SPRAY. They didn't want to loose a good tractor. The crap on lettuce is really bad because WHAT IS LETTUCE MOSTLY WATER THAT HAS CHEMECIALS IN IT.

Your right thou MR M mule a good compost pile is a must for any CRAP going into the garden there are nasty things in it. Need that heat to kill them and breakdown the pile.
