Yes, that is the ground I meant.
No not a Dodge mechanic - just a long time owner.

The ECM being bad may or may not just be s symptom of a lesser problem. The ECM has a data signal that's stuck low but it isn't smart enough to know why. It could easily be because of some external sensor or short pulling it down. The P0483 code is telling because its fan related. For some reason the ECM is especially sensitive to the fan failing sometimes. There is a history of fan failures causing system bus problems like you have. I would inspect the fan closely for a damaged wire going to it and if no physical damage is found, just unplug it to see if the ECM is happier. You will of course get a fan code by doing this but that's ok. You may also have to do something to the ECM to reset it like clear the codes and/or disconnect the battery cables for a while.

Good luck,
Scott

Sag2, a real Dodge mechanic has written about this in the past and can explain it a lot better but we don't see much of him on here anymore.

Thanks Scott, my PM to Sag2:

Sag,

Can you take a look at my posts regarding codes please ? I have personally done trouble shooting e. g. disconnect and clean connectors, disconnected battery leads shorted together negatives to reboot the ECM, reconnected everything and the P0016 came up (which is now gone) but not the others. My independent shop mechanic disconnected CPS connector, metered between it and connector to ECM, got good voltage 5vDC, got good continuity of ground wire, tightened pins with pin tool, swapped two new CPS's and with no difference, finally did one last check that was supposed to return a P0320 ? if I recall = ECM OK but got no such code with the determination that the ECM is bad and needs replaced with new code P2509.

I got a used ECM (same year truck), installed it on Monday and got a P0633 and could not start it failing to realize the ECM needed to be programmed for the SKIM KEY. . I was told that it was good to at least get that code which assumes the used ECM is good and can be flashed.

I have been driving the truck like this for over two weeks now and it does seem to run OK with exception of need to turn the starter over a bit longer and the occasional HICCUP while cruising.

Scott recommended checking for negative cable connections to the quarter panel for rust which I will do shorty this AM as well as disconnect the fan clutch connector and restart.

Can you take a look at my posts on this matter and offer your professional opinion as a Dodge mechanic or any suggestions on further trouble shooting ?

Also, my delay wiper quit working over two years ago, I installed a new one last Friday and it made no difference, I have no delay. Been told the ECM issues may be related.

Thanks for any help.

Sorry, been kind of busy the last few week. Reading back through the information I'm not sure I follow what is the current problem. Is there only a P0016? Is that with the old or donor ECM?
The P2509 is a simple one. It means the ECM is not getting power when the key is on. Without looking for sure, there are three power wires to the ECM. If you do not have power at all three with the key on the code will set. There are the battery cables, the lug on the TIPM, and the three wires from the TIPM (red 10 gauge from TIPM stud, spliced into three red 16 gauge to the ECM) and the connection at the ECM. Also the grounds for the ECM must be good.
If you are getting the P2509 here is a STAR note that has been discussed and that might help.

MIL. P2509. The engine may stumble or stall out. ;12 volt power (unswitched) and the ground circuits to the ECM are good. Batteries and charging system operation are good. If applicable (2006 and 2007 MY trucks), the ECM has already been updated per TSB 18-001-07.
System or Component Die out / Stall,Hesitation / Sag / Stumble;DTC / Error Message;ECM
Recommendation If the problem can be duplicated, disconnect the fan clutch 6-way connector and check if the concern still occurs. If the problem no longer occurs, replace the fan clutch assembly.
