#@$%!

OK I have a 2002 Ram 2500 4 x 4 Diesel. I replaced the step bars (nerf bars or whatever you want top all them) with new bars - no the cab squeaks like the bolts

are not tight enough. I used the old bolts on the new mounts - and the mounts are thinner. what am i missing ?

I had a similar problem with a new Y2K dually. The dealer installed nerf bars as I requested on the new truck before delivery. They squeaked and I thought it was in the suspension. I took it back to the dealer and the tech and I checked everything on the suspension and found nothing. I took the truck home and kept checking and finally discovered it was the nerf bars. I loosened up each nerf bar mounting bolt one at the time thinking it would relieve stresses and re-tightened them very tight with my 1/2" drive air impact wrench. The nerf bars never squeaked again.

Thanks I'll give that a try !

Mine were squeaking real bad. I tried to tighten the cab mount bolts to no avail. I'm not sure how yours are mounted, but on mine, I found the support straps did not have enough tension, causing metal to metal squeaking where the strap goes into a hole in the body. I got the passenger side adjusted to stop squeaking... but the driver's side wouldn't adjust without pulling the nerf/step bar up to an awkward angle. I'll be working on a solution when we return home from our vacation.
