Remington 870 Police, either with the factory installed magazine extension or install it yourself.

Why? Simple really, the Police shotguns are hand assembled in a special area of the Ilion plant by the same people, day in and day out. Parts are hand selected off the production line before being taken to the area where the Police/LE guns are built.

There are other major differences as well, when it comes to the receivers and the trigger group parts.

Personally, I prefer not to have the extended magazine tube as it makes the gun quite heavy when loaded. If five 3" shells aren't enough in a rapid fire situation, then well... . I guess stop shooting at the dump truck box or something... ???

Attached is a pdf from Remington explaining the differences from the Police vs. Express shotgun line. It really is quite a big difference.

I guess if there was a dump truck box or something then it would be enough, sometimes THAT'S NOT AN OPTION!!!

I have a 870 Tactical Magpul. It shoots great, fits me like glove (for some reason the 870's have fit me well). It holds 7+1 rounds and is totally dependable. We patterned it the first day out and it holds a very nice 18" spread evenly out to 25 yards with the 18" tactical choke tube, that is double ought buck used to pattern it. I would buy another in a heart beat. Parts are very readily available, other barrels, etc.

I have a Mossberg 500A that came with a pistol grip. Not much into shotguns, but if it's good enough for the US Navy and Coast Guard, it's good enough for me!!

Sticks

Interesting thought but I really have a problem with auto or semi auto in a fast paced situation, one jam and your lunch meat!!!! When I packed a Mossberg in Nam it at times was full of mud, water, grit and it still functioned well enough to let me writing this!!!

Dl5treez

They are ALL OVER THE PLACE where we are at now!! they have lost SOME of the fear, a few nights ago we heard them outside and went out with the above mentioned banger and put a few in the air over their head and haven't seen any tracks around since that time.

Have been looking for an additional shotgun for the better half, we both need one when im in the field and she is at home alone. I like the looks of the Wilson Combat 870 have talked to them and they work on customers shotguns, I don't own an 870 but they can be found for almost nothing at any gun store what they do to them is remarkable, action as smooth as glass and the feed mechanism is flawless. I like the synthetic stock and finish that they use, its not a show gun and needs to be able to take the elements well, because the weather is turning ugly, FAST!!

BIG

Big - the Magpul 870 from Remington is about $600 cheaper than the Wilson. The two main differences are the streamlight fore end and the 5 round clip on, which is easily added. The front sight is on mine lost the brass insert first time I fired it. I replaced it with a red luminous sight, works great.

The price of the Wilson is if THEY provide the weapon, if done on a customer owned weapon its a lot cheaper. When done on a customers weapon its in better than new condition when returned. I took a look at he Magpul and kind of like it, the problem that I have with something like that is the butt stock, and the carry of the weapon, I need both hands and carry the Mossberg that I have now in one of these, its an over the shoulder rig but a lot less fancy, its a working rig!!! the mules, cattle and most of all the predators aren't real impressed with the way it looks, so this shop made me one that is plain like the other picture, and it was made just for the Mossberg,They do fantastic leather work for being a Calif. based compay, its were I have purchased my last two saddles.

I'm partial to Mossberg 500's My guns are tools, not investments or show pieces. Most important thing to me is that my tools work. My Mossy has never failed me.

I met a former special forces ( don't know which one) rambo type. He likes his Remington 870 with the ATI stock and scorpion recoil pad to help keep on target.
