Break down 06 on freeway!

With all this talk re: injectors, anyone have opinion/experience deciding to go to Stage 1 or 2 for RV'g, as opposed to punching in a higher "performance number" on their diesel tuner?

I just put Bosch 50s in my truck and I couldn't be more pleased at how they turned out. The improved bottom end is way better than what I could get from the TST. The only downside that I can see to using bigger injectors instead of a box for towing is that you can't turn them down if EGT gets too high.

Just read all 107 and now I am thinking about doing mine. Four years ago I bought the DDP 50HP nozzles from Extreme Diesel with the intent on doing them right away. (Did not know know until they arrived and looked at my bill I got dinged $400. 00 core charge also = $1200. 00 which I don't think I can get back now. )

Now with 240+K on the engine, folks at DDP think the injectors are too worn out for the new nozzles and also said something about them or the injectors is different ?? I can't recall the exact info as it was about a year ago when I stopped in to talk to them. (Dynomite Diesel Perf. Monroe, WA)

I'm now wondering if I can even use them ?

Can I have my injectors inspected by me or someone else using a bore scope and if so, what would I look for ?

Then there is the question of "pop testing" and if that is even a concern ?

Aside from my recent HE issue, the truck runs fine, a little smoke when I punch but I think that's normal.

Keep the great write ups coming making this site invaluable to all. (Dodge guy's that is. ):D

Well I'm broken down again in limp mode over three hours from home. Six hundred dollars to tow it back. This time it looks like open injector number 2. Three failures this year! I don't have an ohm meter to trouble shoot it either. Crap!

I'm home in Sandy, Oregon now.

Herb, where are to broke down at?
Bob, good morning, I got a tow truck to drive me over Mt Hood yesterday. Spendy but I'm home. Cheaper than a dealer fixing it and renting a car to get home and then back to get my truck. I put the truck in my pole barn and tore the engine open to test some injectors. Turns out my number two injector solenoid tested high resistance at 45 ohms. I replaced it and my truck sound good again. I would of tested it there but didn't have the right tools with Allen wrench to do the top of the solenoid. This is my third solenoid crap out in seven months! My truck starts promptly without smoke and that's why I haven't changed them out. I may replace all the solenoids with new and carry the used ones for emergency.
Any advice is appreciated. I'm so not trusting my truck at this point. The AC is not working either! Paid Jiffy Lube 149.99 and it lasted two freaking hours.

Proper torque can easily vary more than that depending on whether lube is used, and which one. I use high pressure grease on the tapered shoulder and on the threads, and use 37 ft lb with no issues.

This is perfect! Just had to replace two of my injectors. I think if the others go out I'm going to do it myself, it's just to expensive with the cost of each injector.
