Rough Idle

Had a strange occurance the last 3 weeks. Doing a job out of town, truck sits 5 days. When started after 5 days I get a rough idle... sort of like a fowled plug on a gas burner. Clears up in a couple of minutes. Not severe, just noticable.



Stuck injector? Valve adjustment? Or?



83K trouble free miles, would like to know what I should be looking for.

Are you sure it's not just cold air? My truck runs like a washing machine full of rocks when it's below 40 degrees without block heat. Clears up within 5 minutes.



On edit: which diff guard did you get, exactly? The one for the GM 14-bolt?

Injector possible. You need to have it checked and diagnosed. We have seen this situation before and was properly diagnosed as a bad injector. You should have it diagnosed. Thanks

might try a can of sea foam in the filter housing before you spend money on a diagnosis.

I was due for a filter change anyway... this morning I filled the filter housing with SeaFoam and ran it through... now I have to let it sit for a week and see if I get arough idle!

Filled the fuel filter housing w SeaFoam and ran it through. Did by current routine, had to park the truck from Monday morning until Friday afternoon. Fired up this afternoon... smooth idle. Not conclusive, but I will be using the SeaFoam again.

did you use sea foam motor treatment &how long did you run the engine before letting it set& how much sea foam did you use

sea foam fuel treatment,put it in your fuel filter and start it up for a few seconds so it will get to the pump and injectors then Let it set over night.
