Front seats in an '07 - UGH!

The front cloth seats in our '07 4x4 with 90K on the clock have finally gone from semi-comfortable to "Where's the Sawzall?", plus the cloth is looking like it's ready to tear. I've searched the posts for older threads and found comments about re-padding the seats but our's is going to need new covering as well. A couple of the links in older posts about re-padding appear to be broken as well.

Suggestions/recommendations from the group?

The stock seats are terrible. I tried smoothing the sharp edges on the seat frame, adding burlap and additional foam. Nothing helped. The stock seats hit a nerve in my leg making 10 minute drives excruciatingly painful. I had to sit on a pillow to make any driving bearable.

Finally I bought a set of aftermarket seats, nothing fancy. Moab by Corbeau.

Since then, I've done 20+ continuous hour long trips and can't complain at all. Only thing I'd have done differently was buy them sooner. A thicker more plush seat wouldn't have been bad either, but still no complaints.

I have done the foam upgrade and added seat heat to mine. At 130,000 the fabric is still in perfect shape. When they do get bad enough I will change over to the National air ride seats.
I think that having steps makes a big difference in the life of the seat fabric as you are not sliding your butt across the edge of the seat getting in or out.

When you say "foam upgrade", do you mean you used the replacement foam from Geno's or something else?

I did not use the correct term, I did the carpet under the foam before it settled too far into the support wires underneath.

I like the looks of the seats that Black93GT is showing above, I will Google those later and see how much they run.

You could buy new foam and get Katzkin covers or something similar, might even score some take off covers on e-bay...BUT when you get it all done they are still not a very comfy seat. Mine are actually better now then when they were new and the heat takes some of the pain away as you drive....

I think i paid 700 for the set. Air ride seat would be amazing... I thought about it but just didnt want to install a compressir, tank and run the lines too.
Maybe im a minimalist, but i just wanted a simple seat. Was able to make adapters out of some steel flat stock and retain the oem sliders.

I completely agree about not sliding out. A buddy of mine has nothing but pure seat frame left. My fabric was worn but my problem was on the right side of the seat.

I ordered new stock foam from a vendor on EBay. Same thing Geno sells but using EBay saved a few dollars. Massive improvement. Mine had broke down on the left (drivers) side of the seat and had started the frame cutting the cloth. Got it before it was too bad and replaced the foam. Used some vinyl repair glue on the underside of the cloth to seal the slight tearing but if I was going to do it again I would probably get Permatex Fabric Repair Kit . The repair looks like something was spilled there but not bad. The same guy could probably get new OEM covers but you would need to check. Big improvement for under $100.

A+ for the National Air Ride. Replaced my drivers seat with their premium model. Not cheap ($1,400) but to me worth every penny.

I had the same problem in my '06. i got a front seat out of a 2011 that was full power. little bit or rewireing of the harness and they work just fine

I put Marathon seat covers on mine when new. The foam has settled a dab,but the fabric underneath is perfect. The Marathon's are in great shape.

Looking for a driver's seat for my 2006 Dodge Mega Cab. Manual seat is fine, don't need to replace any more motors. Have the lighter grey interior.
