Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Noisey Raptor pump

Hey again
Put a new VP44 pump on this winter and they wanted to put a new Raptor on
with it. So I abliged and no troubles but on my last trip up North I was just out driving around
and couldn't figure out a new noise. Well after hearing it a few days I figured
it out it was pump, and it was only after it was warm. Just wondered if anybody else has this
problem, and should I be worried or not.

Been running my Raptor for seven years, and no sounds whatever. Call Raptor with your serial number and ask questions.

I'm running the Airdog setup, which the motors are basically the same. Just last night I changed both bearings on it. About a year ago I changed just one of them, got the bearing from a Raptor pump we had on the shelf. This time I got both from NAPA, the highest quality they could get me. I just go by the noise, as to when they need replaced. They get louder and kind of a grindy noise. It has gotten a little frustrating, I don't think a guy should be having to be replacing them all the time. I don't necessarily mind changing them, but I just have to think of the folks that don't have that 'ear' for that odd noise and end up beside the road on the back side of no man's land. So yes, I would say your bearings need replaced. And by the way, we will not sell anyone a Raptor anymore, we just had way too many comebacks on them. The only ones we sell are the Airdogs. Any advice on making these bearings last longer would be greatly appreciated.

Not too hard. The worst part is getting the old ones off. If you have a small pulley puller sure helps. Other then that it's pretty straight forward. If you get into it and need some info don't hesitate to ask.
