STAB: I absolutely love that truck...still liking it? Ride comfort still good? Any regrets so far in opting for air ride?

This truck is awesome! Ride is still the best riding 1 ton I have ever ridden in. We took a 350 mile round trip Sat. Unloaded up & a couple hundred pounds back. (furniture)
The wife woke after a short nap & said: "This sure dosen't fell like you're riding in a truck"! NO REGRETS on the Air Ride. Running 50psi in the tires and it rides real good.
Figuring all the uConnect stuff out and it is pretty cool also.
Except for those of us with truck campers.
Bingo! This is why I would never consider this air ride system. I don't think it would hold up to the loads I put my truck through.
All 6 or just rear? I would highly recommend 80 front.

I'm running empty pressures in all six for now. 50psi all the way around. The fronts heat up to around 55lbs in a matter of minutes of driving. The rears stay about the same so far. Give or take 2-3 lbs. When loaded we usually run 70lbs in front with 80 in rears with SRW trucks. (Or what ever max is) Why so high in the fronts for you 12V98?

If you think the air system on the 3500's isn't up to the tasking why install airbags? They are in the same spot as the OEM ones...
Additoinally if your that hard on your truck, weight wise, I'm curious how long it takes the lower stable loads to damage your OEM springs. IMHO they are one of the worst suspension mods on the market for our trucks.
I don't think 50 is quite enough for the front tires. Curb weight on the front axle is just over 5,000lbs and by the time you add a driver/passenger and anything to the cab it goes up. If it's 5200lbs, probably heavier, that's 2600 a tire which needs at least 68psi on those tires.

50 psi is only enough air for around 3800lbs per pair. The reason they heat up to 55 in minutes is due to them being under-inflated.
I was going to spec it out on the 3500 I just ordered. But I plan on using it mainly to tow my 5ver around the country. And if it should every go bad, I'm screwed as the leafs on the truck could not handle the pin weight, not to mention that if just one side went bad it would shift the balance of the load. The traditional set up is bullet proof. I mean Ram has been talking about this for years. Supply was not an issue, as you see Firestone bags on them. The system should not be that complicated as air ride has been on cars since the 70's. So that lack of confidence and taking so long discouraged me from ordering that option.
Unless something has changed from what I have seen on the Ram website they are not the same suspension setup. I use my air bags as a secondary load leveling device in conjunction with my leaf springs. Not for primary load carrying the air ride suspension does. You loose any component of the air bag setup and your dead on the side of the road with no suspension or one leaf and 6000 lbs in your bed.
I used to run 72 at all times on the front of my 98 2500 quad cab and 45 rear solo 80 towing. I would easily get 100-120K on a set of BFG or Michelin's.
With my 5K pin I add less then 200# to the front axle. This truck is much heavier on the front axle than my 98. I only rotate side to side on the fronts with this Dually. With 5,200# on the front axle and the turning wear 80 psi is needed. I have 53K on MS2's with just under 2/3 tread left with a lot of towing miles. I run 45 solo and 60 loaded with very even tread wear. Even with 80 the outer edges are slightly more worn.
Weigh your TV with and without RV you will be amazed at low little weight is added to the steering axle.
Hot tire pressure is not what you want to care about. AH64ID has it right you need more air, with my experience I highly recommend 80 front at all times 45 solo rear and with 5K pin as I have 60 when towing.
I agree it won't leave you stranded.

Yes you are correct AH641D, I was just testing to see what was up with the tires and their pressures.
I planned on doing all the calculations on pressures when we got closer to loading. The fronts do squat some with 50 in them.
