Not really Tuffguy. Think about it. A Mega cab-longbed is simply a frame stretch and one longer driveshaft. It might be a tight fit on a rail car but it's not reinventing the wheel either.

I'm like everyone else though. I'll beleive it when I see it. However, the same Ram rep has been at the NFR for several years and he's been right two diffwrent times since we started going to NFR in 2005. At this point, my money is on him.

Thats is not true at all. There are no plans to stop building them at least not anytime soon.

I also doubt highly that you will ever see a mega cab long bed as for them to build them they would need to spend a fortune on the factory to fit them and then it would be even harder to ship them as they will not fit on the car carriers. with that said the price increase for them to be built and shipped would throw the price over the roof. It would be very stupid of Fiat to build something like that unless it was a specialty thing in which case they are built in very limited numbers but at the same time it would still drive the price way up on them.
I don't think it will be that big of a deal. They already have frames long enough, either by using the 3500 C&C or 4500 C&C frames. Only question is how much fabrication changes will be needed for the cab installation. As far as hauling them, same as they do for C&C trucks. As a matter a fact they are even larger.

As much as I would love to see it, I'll beleive it when I see it.

I guess I have to ask why???

The current Ram 3500 DRW carries a 14,000 GVWR, which is the limit on a Class III vehicle. The F-450 Pickup is also rated at 14,000 lbs, and only has a slight advantage on ratings.. mainly for marketing.

If you need more than 14,000lbs of rated GVWR then Class IV is probably a better choice.

Or, after all that, are you simply looking for a Class IV truck with a OEM pickup bed?

The simple answer is heavy Truck Campers. The heaviest Truck campers use to be under 5K#s now they are 6,000++ pounds with triple slides. 80% of guys with truck campers are over thier GVW but under axle, tire and wheel ratings. Having a 14K or 16K GVW is a lot better for us Truck camper guys.

A Ram 4500 with a pickup truck box would allow me to keep daily driving it and avoiding most state DOT stations.

Ford sold a ton of the older F450 with pickup boxes when it was the heavier duty chassis cab with a pickup box. Now its a beefed F350. Truck campers guys love the older F450 pickups.

Staying under GVW is very important for traveling in Canada too.

It would ride like a buckboard, until my bed was installed on my C&C, and its a 3500, I knew where every bump in the road was. Most 4500/5500's have a very heavy bed and is permenant in their weight, so they ride better than my 3500 with its B&W bed with a total weight of @ 9500 pounds GVW.

But when my Truck camper was in it. It would work perfectly.

What did the older F-450 pickups have for a GVWR?

I get the 14K GVWR (which the current 3500 DRW has), but 16K puts it into a different class so I wonder what the downfalls are???

Does Canada enforce GVWR? I haven't found any states that enforce GVWR here, but have only researched a few.

Sorry, but that looks like a Long bed crew! Or a Mega cab short box!

Front fenders appear to have different lines along with the top bed rails.

.5 normally means the govt regs require that as of Jan 1 of said year, the change is required. Think 1998.5 and you get 24v.

You can bet 99% of the time the change will cost Dodge/Ram more so they wont do it unless they have to. So normally production starts Jan 1 on those models meaning into dealers by mid Jan.

I will trade mine in on one. That's exactly what I'm looking for. The only reason I didn't get a MC is because I couldn't get a 8' bed.

I just stumbled on an awesome deal for a leftover 2014 and traded my 06 Mega cab for that. Now I find this and am slightly annoyed, not that I could afford to order one... #@$%!

I do not think government regs have anything to do with it, or 2015 models would not start coming out in the middle of 2014. The 2001.5 was because of the addition of rear disc brakes, when did that occur? Read this:

I kinda hope it's not happening, because it means I can buy a new truck soon. I've been hanging on to my 2001 with a manual transmission for all these years because I couldn't get comfortable with buying an automatic. The change was then made to the gutrag transmission, and I then got uncomfortable with manuals. I then decided to hang on to my 2nd gen. The interior was comfortable and it was uprated just enough that it pulled my heaviest trailer (at a relatively light by todays standards) at 11k lbs.

I'm now comfortable with the automatics, and after buying my Dodge Durango Citadel, which has an interior (and quality) similar to the newest (loaded) Ram trucks, I think it's time to upgrade after all these years. Anyway, my other pet peeve is I could never bring myself to purchase a short bed truck, particularly for towing duty, regardless of all these fancy slider hitches. I'd really like the reclining seats of the mega cab, and the long bed. My kids are now pre-teen and we go on a lot of very long road trips and the extra comfort would lead to less whining. :-laf The extra length isn't an issue for me since my truck is used almost exclusively for towing on road trips. I have a Prius as a commuter car. Yes, I just admitted that. #@$%!

I wonder just how many people would actually buy a factory long bed mega cab? It's obvious there's a desire for it since I believe there's still a few businesses specializing in the conversion.
