Another reality that has to mentioned is this...as RAM gains market share the parts stream will suffer...

We are going through that right now, Freightliner popped over the 40% market share hump several months ago and it is really straining the flow of replacement parts. We are constantly begging, searching other dealers, etc....A daily process now.

Remember that there are two streams of parts, production and aftermarket. When the assembly lines are running at full tilt production demands a huge amounts of parts. The aftermarket stream suffers. If we order a new truck today we might get it built by November if we are lucky. Nobody wants to take material away from production when the plants are that busy.
Vendors are trying to ramp up but it is not an overnight process.

I tell myself this...."If this job were easy everybody would be doing it".....:(

I can still get some dealer parts for my '83 Mercedes- on a platform who's production ended thirty years ago.

I can still get SOME parts for my '73 John Deere snowmobile from the dealer and production ended 42 years ago and Deere doesn't even make sleds anymore. Where's your point? Big difference between some and all.

I don't know,I was pretty impressed when I walked into a M/B dealer and ordered some shift linkage parts(4on the column) ac compressor bracketry and a few other odds and ends for a 59 benz

shareholders get in the way. When Soichiro Honda was still alive he always said that every part for any Honda made would always be available. Up until his death almost every part was available no matter the model or year. Then he died and the bean counters took over. That ended that. In the mid '90's there was a flood of NOS Honda parts hitting the streets/scrap yards as Honda dumped "old/obsolete" parts.

Now I am looking for the following drivers seat cover: 1FM411J3AA. Another item discontinued by Chrysler. If anyone has a way of looking nationwide to see if someone has one in stock, I would appreciate it. For my 2007 SLT J3 Khaki interior, trim code M9.

None in stock anywhere. It looks like none were sold in the last 18 months. $232 so I doubt anyone would want to pay that much for a piece of seat trim.

I was afraid of that. It's the upholstering for the seat cushion. Mine has worn almost through the outside bolster (raised part you slide over evertime getting in and out). The factory material really isn't a good wearing material. Going to be impossible to find an upholstery shop that can match the material even closely. Salvage yards only want to sell the whole seat assembly, if they even have one in that color that isn't ruined. I may try to remove the cover enough I can glue a piece of similar color material on the back side to hold it together. If that doesn't work, just get an ugly slipcover.

Nope, material is available to match existing covers. About like a dealer, if you can find one that will actually try it is pretty simple. While you are at it have them beef the cushions up, they probably need replaced anyway.
