Thanks This isn't really for me am on another chat and some say yes I myself think it's a waste of time on flat ground or small grades. Should have said that up front.

I have had mine on since I lest the dealers lot 13,000 miles ago. The only thing is you have to teach your right toes to be gentle and you will find that you can "coast" without engaging the brake. Not that hard, but I had about 2 million miles on a Series 60 Detroit with a Jake to teach me.

Heck, I was using my exhaust brake off-highway in low-range a couple weeks ago, on 'auto' with a G56 manual. It prevented the truck from accelerating down a hill. Pretty cool

After my truck starts, it is the first button I push twice. I run in auto 100% of the time. They say it helps keep the turbo clean. Plus you r service brakes will last a TON longer.

Dumb question then. Wont this "wear out" the turbo prematurely? I agree about using it . It helps prevent soot build up and keeps the brake from sticking. David

No. The vanes in the turbo move constantly giving the turbo the best performance with the available exhaust pressure. Having the exhaust brake engaged ensures the full travel is used to keep soot from building up.

Soot build-up will kill your turbo before the vanes wear out. Also, helps your truck warm up to operating temp quicker. It is all around good for your engine. And it's the first button I hit also.

What I noted on mine was that in Full (one button push), when you release the accelerator the EB kicks in immediately, after a tiny delay. Auto didn't kick in for me until I press the service brake. When I released the service brake the EB would also stop. I like the Full mode better as it's more reminiscent of the PacBrake on my previous truck, although it kicks out at 30mph.

Mr Hinton

Thanks for the info. I have always operated mine on the first button push.. That way it operates the same as the Jake on the Detroit Series 60 that I am used to.. IN TH, mine does not shut off until 1100 RPM in 2nd gear which is about 20 MPH, 3.73 rear. Mine will also stay in on position when the key is turned to off so I do not have to turn it on each time I start the truck.. Same as leaving the master switch on with a JAKE.

Brocky do you know how you got it to stay on like that? Mine seems to reset every time I switch off, and most others seem to have it that way too. It's not like it's all that exhausting having to push the button each start, but it would be neat to have set-and-forget.
