I had an edge ez installed in my 02 in 2003. Can anyone tell me what the life expectancy is of that product ?

Do they get weaker over time ?

When they go bad, do they go bad slowly, or all at once ?

When they stop working, does the truck just stop working ? Or does it still run, but with less power ?

Is there a way to test to see if they are still up to snuff (other than removing it and comparing to stock) ?

If they do get weaker over time, what is a good alternative ?

Thanks

My Edge Comp is from the same vintage, always run with it on, no problems. Usually, from what I've seen, when they stop working, it's all at once, and the engine still runs, but without the added power.

So then, I guess the only way to see if it is still working as advertized is to remove it and see if I notice a difference ?

Thanks again

Mine has been on since '07 with no issues. Had it disconnected for the first time recently while diagnosing a bad MAP sensor, and the difference is easily noticeable.

all true, my boys went out thought he had a blown turbo line no power, mine has been in service for the more than 7 years I take it out now for smog and can see a noticeable difference. so I have to agree with go or no go.

I had my Edge EZ on my '01 (installed ~2002) up through when I sold it about 3 months ago. Never touched it and it appeared as if it worked when I sold it as well as it did when I first installed it many years ago.

Edge can test the versions with the plug on the box but unfortunately there is no way for them to test the older versions without that plug whereby the wiring is directly connected to the box.

I have an edge comp that's been on the truck since 2002, on all the time and it still works like new. I just removed it to sell the truck.

I have an Edge Comp Box that was new in 2002, that was replaced by Edge in 2011....this past week I had them replace it again. Each time there was a charge, $150. The latest had an issue twice when it wouldn't turn on....looked like the touch controls were going bad. This time I also paid an additional $125 to have it modified to a Drag Comp.

It's hard to imagine that it costs edge that much to repair with price of electronic components next to nothing.
I've been happy with my comp and it's never failed so I was looking at a new evolutuion CTS2 for my 3rd gen.

Oh, and congratulations on your exceptional mileage!

437,000 miles as of 29 Oct 2014, I am impressed
