Second Gen 3500 2WD- 5 Speed. The factory cupholders that slide out or the dash are a joke and I'm not really impressed with the idea of adding the plastic cupholder to the front of the flip-down center armrest. Back in the day when I owned my own semi (Peterbilt), there were Oak consoles that you could get that were made to fit around the shifter for alot of the different brands of class 8 trucks. I'm wondering if there's anything like that out there for my truck and where to find it. Links would be greatly appreciated.....

I'd say you're going to have to build one if that's what you want. There have been several threads on here where folks have built one. Try searching "console".

That said, Geno's Smoothies are GREAT. First accessory I added to my trucks. What year do you have?

It's a 1996. And, I didn't try a search - sorry. I'm new to the forum and didn't notice the search box in the corner. I'm the third owner of this truck. It appears to be stock but I don't know for sure. The original owner bought it to haul an overhead camper and then set it up for pulling a Forest River 34' Work and Play Toyhauler. I bought them both. This thing pulls a 10,000 camper like nothing.....I'll fill out my profile and try to upload a picture. I found this website after finding several very early editions of the TDR in a large envelope under the seat....

After reading the rave reviews about Geno's Smoothie cupholder,I decided to order one. Thank You Big Papa for the quick response. I'll let you know what I think when I get it installed.

You will be happy with it, always my FIRST purchase for a new truck. Holds my big coffee cups with ease, no spills.

No coffee, no drivee.......

Mike.

Good deal! I'm the same way - coffee in the morning and always have a bottle of water or soda that I'm sipping on....I'm hoping it's much better than the factory "pop spillers" the manufacturer thought would pass for a cupholder....

Back when I owned my '97 3500 dually with the in dash slide out drink holder, we referred to them as "drink ejectors". As posted above, Geno's cup smoothie is a great addition and solves the problem of emptying your drink if driving over a rough patch in the road or RR crossing.

I took the slide out cup holder for the back seat of my club cab and mounted it in front. It slides out and sits just above the carpet on the transmission hump. It works pretty well and slides out of sight when you're not using it.

I got the Smoothie and installed it the other day. It's wonderful.....I haven't been able to get the latch adjusted for the lid to close decent. I followed the instructions and can't seem to get the striker for the latch adjusted and I don't want to break anything. I tried to turn it with a visegrip and it won't budge.....

It will turn. Try tightening it then loosening it. You may try one of those stud remover sockets if you have access to one. I backed mine out quite a bit and still have to push the lid really hard to latch.

Another tip is to put a couple of screws in the bottom of the big pocket in the front to help hold it in place. I used a couple of those screws with the drill bit end that were 3/4" long.

I put two screws in the bottom of the tray when I installed it. I'll have to check into this stud remover socket and see if I can get a hold of one....

Where is this smoothie cupholder, the only one I found is the one that goes on center console?

I have the Geno's cup holder in my 95 and kind of like it. I have a 5 speed and the shifter hits cups in the left holder when going into reverse and right holder in first. It's not the best but better than the stock holders.

Got mine and installed, really the cats meow. I have nv5600 shifter hits when going into 2nd gear but just barely. Not worth worrying about. Thanks to all here good tip.

What? You mean "left cup in second and right cup in reverse"? With the old bottle-neck shifter mine would hit the dash in 1st, 3rd, and 5th, too. :-laf

I ordered 2 cup holders from cabelas and drilled 2 holes into top of console, clears inside front and still has plenty storage, only paid 16.00 for them, out of the way and a whole lot cheaper than 49.99
