My 3500 was also make in Mexico; Build Date 5/2015. You would think that on an assembly line all units would be constructed the same. Gives me a bad feeling that my truck is different from all the others! Makes me wonder if that line is bent or stretched to fit.
I don't have a problem doing the filter from top or side; mostly want to know why my truck is different.

Landshark....my '14 looks like the picture of the '16. But I could not access the filter with my larger than average hands and a strap wrench. Besides that the Cummins gorilla had it so tight I too had the filter changed by the dealer. I regretted that because for two weeks I had oil dripping from the undercarriage. They must NOT use the bag method. I really thought I had a leak but mainly it just made a mess on my driveway. I did the next change from the top as has been suggested and set my clamps up for an easier removal next time. Curious that your hose lines are set up differently but maybe it's the difference between assembly and parts from Mexico (mine) and Canada?????
