My 3500 was also make in Mexico; Build Date 5/2015. You would think that on an assembly line all units would be constructed the same. Gives me a bad feeling that my truck is different from all the others! Makes me wonder if that line is bent or stretched to fit.

I don't have a problem doing the filter from top or side; mostly want to know why my truck is different.

Landshark....my '14 looks like the picture of the '16. But I could not access the filter with my larger than average hands and a strap wrench. Besides that the Cummins gorilla had it so tight I too had the filter changed by the dealer. I regretted that because for two weeks I had oil dripping from the undercarriage. They must NOT use the bag method. I really thought I had a leak but mainly it just made a mess on my driveway. I did the next change from the top as has been suggested and set my clamps up for an easier removal next time. Curious that your hose lines are set up differently but maybe it's the difference between assembly and parts from Mexico (mine) and Canada?????

Why not ask your service department? Maybe they will fix it so you are like the rest of the gang! SNOKING

I find it easiest to loosen the filter from the fenderwell and then reach up from underneath to get it off and install the new one. No baggie needed and the new filter gets filled with oil that doesn't spill out on my 2013

I went by my dealer today to inquire about the lack of filter access thru the fender. Service rep wasn't much help Said he has never known of this problem. We went out to the lot and looked a a half dozen Cummins Rams and none had the access blocked by the AC line. All had the line that crosses diagonally on my truck, running flat on the frame. They can't look into it unless I leave the truck there for a full day; not gonna happen any time soon!

I changed my filter from the bottom today. I can see where this would be very easy and quick for someone with longer arms than mine. It went ok but was harder because of my short arms and the longer reach required.
I will try from the top next time to determine weather top or bottom removal is quickest/easiest for my arm length.
