As of Friday 4th @1300, I finally received verification that stop payment had been successfully completed......
For the last few weeks, I've been trying to take possession of a 2015 3500 Ram from a dealer in Utah. I'm not sure I announced the dealer in previous threads so I'm not going to be a prude and crap all over them, even though I want to. If you need that info, PM me and I will provide those names. At this point, I'm glad that it's over.
Long story short, our accountant, which is also my wife's brother that graciously handles our accounts for free, made a one in a lifetime mistake that took forever to get straight. So by now we're just around the corner of Thanksgiving, I still don't have the truck, my motel business is full, and we're hosting dinner for 34 in my house.
I tell the dealer that I can't worry about the truck at this point and offer to put a deposit down. "No deposit needed" I'm told and the truck is removed from their web, and I start receiving emails from Ram, congratulating me on my new purchase etc etc. So now I'm thinking that this will all work out after turkey day is over.
We make contact again and I tell him that I've got a company that will ship my truck to us in Las Vegas when we're at NFR (Dec 7th through 12th). He promises me to over night the required paperwork that we need to sign since we're not doing a face to face transaction, and I agree to over night our payment. I also request a few current pics of the truck and a pic of the odometer to verify milage before the truck get's picked up.
A few days pass, funds still haven't cleared and I still have no paperwork or pictures. This is when communications start getting very slow on his end and I'm getting anxious. The next conversation consists of, "Since we actually sold the truck below our cost","We need to recoup some of that money through Chrysler" What??.........
"We're gonna tell Chrysler that truck has more miles than it actually does so that the truck can be sold as a DEMO model". "This way", "We can get a kick back to help recover our loss". Ummmm, NO YOU'RE NOT!
I immediately drive down the mountain and make it to the bank just before closing to stop payment. I'm told that since it's a cashiers check, that we have to get them to sign some BS stop payment papers. I call the dealer and tell them I'm not comfortable at all with their plans and I verbally kill the deal. Obviously, the dealer is upset and they agree to return my check, but I tell them we can do it via fax. I now fax said paper work to stop payment. I'll remind you guys that I still have not received a PO, transfer docs, updated pictures or signed anything at this point.
Hours go buy and I, nor my bank has received response from the dealer. So the next day, my bank calls the dealer for me and the dealer admits they had already deposited my check days before and the only way to snuff it is if it was still processing. Luckily for me, the check hadn't cleared yet and I've got my funds back. What a relief.
I'm not sure what to think at this point. Besides the disappointment, I'm extremely frustrated with the dealers business antics. So much that I called Chrysler and made a report about it Friday. At first, they said it was a sales dispute, so I reiterated that this dealer was purposely trying being deceitful with Chrysler for financial gain by reporting false mileage on a new vehicle. They gave us a case# and said it was being turned over to internal office (what ever that means).
