As of Friday 4th @1300, I finally received verification that stop payment had been successfully completed......

For the last few weeks, I've been trying to take possession of a 2015 3500 Ram from a dealer in Utah. I'm not sure I announced the dealer in previous threads so I'm not going to be a prude and crap all over them, even though I want to. If you need that info, PM me and I will provide those names. At this point, I'm glad that it's over.

Long story short, our accountant, which is also my wife's brother that graciously handles our accounts for free, made a one in a lifetime mistake that took forever to get straight. So by now we're just around the corner of Thanksgiving, I still don't have the truck, my motel business is full, and we're hosting dinner for 34 in my house.

I tell the dealer that I can't worry about the truck at this point and offer to put a deposit down. "No deposit needed" I'm told and the truck is removed from their web, and I start receiving emails from Ram, congratulating me on my new purchase etc etc. So now I'm thinking that this will all work out after turkey day is over.

We make contact again and I tell him that I've got a company that will ship my truck to us in Las Vegas when we're at NFR (Dec 7th through 12th). He promises me to over night the required paperwork that we need to sign since we're not doing a face to face transaction, and I agree to over night our payment. I also request a few current pics of the truck and a pic of the odometer to verify milage before the truck get's picked up.

A few days pass, funds still haven't cleared and I still have no paperwork or pictures. This is when communications start getting very slow on his end and I'm getting anxious. The next conversation consists of, "Since we actually sold the truck below our cost","We need to recoup some of that money through Chrysler" What??.........

"We're gonna tell Chrysler that truck has more miles than it actually does so that the truck can be sold as a DEMO model". "This way", "We can get a kick back to help recover our loss". Ummmm, NO YOU'RE NOT!

I immediately drive down the mountain and make it to the bank just before closing to stop payment. I'm told that since it's a cashiers check, that we have to get them to sign some BS stop payment papers. I call the dealer and tell them I'm not comfortable at all with their plans and I verbally kill the deal. Obviously, the dealer is upset and they agree to return my check, but I tell them we can do it via fax. I now fax said paper work to stop payment. I'll remind you guys that I still have not received a PO, transfer docs, updated pictures or signed anything at this point.

Hours go buy and I, nor my bank has received response from the dealer. So the next day, my bank calls the dealer for me and the dealer admits they had already deposited my check days before and the only way to snuff it is if it was still processing. Luckily for me, the check hadn't cleared yet and I've got my funds back. What a relief.

I'm not sure what to think at this point. Besides the disappointment, I'm extremely frustrated with the dealers business antics. So much that I called Chrysler and made a report about it Friday. At first, they said it was a sales dispute, so I reiterated that this dealer was purposely trying being deceitful with Chrysler for financial gain by reporting false mileage on a new vehicle. They gave us a case# and said it was being turned over to internal office (what ever that means).

Well that sucks!!!!! I ran into a dealer in Idaho that played games on availability of truck for a full day, I was finally told by one person it was sold and by another that it was dealer traded. Weeks later is was still on there web site.

I sort of had the same BS from a dealer in Arizona. They claim to give a Lifetime Warranty on every vehicle they sell. Including the Ram's that have the Cummins Diesel Engine. I have a close fried that bought a truck from them they sold it as a 2014 it turned out to be a 2013 by vin# and date of mfg. They do provide the life time warranty though.

I was going to buy from them but decided against it. I decided to stay with a dealer that i know here in San Diego. (I have had many dealings with them and their service department) (I also know the service manager personally)

Sorry to hear of your problem with this dealer, maybe that's a reason people say to beware of Car-Salesman. #@$%!

I've read you opening comments 3 times, and for some reason my personal feelings are you should check your credit reports if you can.
Just a gut feeling.

The way I read it the dealer had NOTHING to do with the financial part of the transaction other than receiving payment in full!!!!!!! And would have NO REASON to even want to pull a credit report.

We have the three credit bureaus block and paid for the new truck with a wire transfer. They never asked us to unblock a bureau for them to do a credit check.

Your post would have better being put in a PM to the OP. One's credit is a very personal thing, and I think you sorta crossed a line! SNOKING

I agree with AOB and I would do the same. Get your a copy of the credit report, from all three agencies. If you are worried about this showing up bad.

The last two trucks I bought, I paid with a Bank Money Order and the dealerships said they would have no need to check. Each time you have your credit check, it lowers the rating a bit until you re prove your credit worthyness is fine. After the sale of both, I checked and both dealerships had lied and had checked. This was not a concern to me at that time since I wasn't getting anything big for a while.

But since he didn't go through with the deal, if they did check his credit, it should have drop his rating a bit. This will limit his choices later if he wants to look at buying anything on credit, rate charges or whatever. It takes a long time to get a good to great credit rating, but one check to lower it a bit.

You don't know what they did with them trying to lie to the manufacture. I just suggest the old saying ... CYA ... 'C'over 'Y'our 'A'ss.

And freeze your account on the three credit bureaus. Most states have made this so it is free. You are given codes to unlock them for certain companies or periods of time. It helps in keeping people from opening accounts in your name. I did it because I was notified that my info was on a VA laptop that was stolen. SNOKING

Maybe one needs three wives instead of three credit bureau reports to get treated proper in Utah?? Just sayin'.......:D:-laf

Sitting here at Bally's in Vegas tonight. First time staying at the *new-er* strip. My buddy should be roping tomorrow at High Point about 4ish tomorrow. Headed to Chapman CJD after to look at a 2016 Laramie G56. If the price is right, gonna be towing home a rental car on the way back.

As to the comments about checking credit,......what's the point? I don't understand?? Doesn't make any sense to me.

I did this also. My wife got a notice from her Employer's Payroll Dept., that someone hacked their computers. Paid for a years free credit protection. Then less than a month ago I get a letter from OPM that my information was possibly hacked if I had applied for a security clearance or anything else, employment, or anything to do with my retirement, set up an allotment, direct deposit etc etc, so here we go again. I wonder how many people got those letters from DOD/OPM.

Good Luck.

Like I said, I paid in full via Bank Money Order. After I found out about the credit checks, the dealerships said they checked to see if I was credit worthy .. if .. there was an issue with the Money Order.
Issue with a BANK 'Money Order' ?
You pay 'BEFORE' they issue those.

If they check the credit, and you needed to use your credit history for a loan or such soon after, it lowers your rate and the interest you pay is more. When JHawes story was over, this was what came to mind and I wanted to give him a heads up to check and see where he stood. Dealerships do things ... that I consider ... stuipd or underhanded.

That is why it is good to lock your credit reports! SNOKING

I know someone who had to back out of a vehicle transaction through a dealership for personal reasons, they found out later that the dealership ( because they were mad) had ran their credit numerous times, and hurt their credit. You might want to keep an eye on yours.

Did you get a new one ?

We didn't go by Chapman in LV that afternoon. My buddy and his partner made it through so we stayed to watch. They caught #1 and #3 but pooped a leg on #2. We've been spending our extra time site seeing the new strip. people are nuts here.

My wife and her sister just returned from Rodeo week in LV and indeed reported on the freak show.
Lots of cowboys though and they appreciated the eye candy.
I'll keep an eye out here for a CQLB manual 2500-3500 5.9. You never know.
