Anyone running Good Year Duratracs?

The Firestoners are not the tire for me anymore. Needing 4wd on wet grass and light snow on pavement is not cutting it.

I'm looking at either the 305/55R20 or the 325/60R20(35").

Anyone know if the 325's need a leveling kit, and how would a level kit work (or not work) with the factory rear air suspension?

Can't answer about the sizes, but I just switched to Duratracs, they are hands down by far the best tire I've ever ran in the snow and ice. I can actually plow in two wheel drive! Very hard to even break traction in 4 wheel drive.

Do you have the Transforce HT? Or the Transforce AT?

My experience with the firestones so far is that the AT's are way better than the HT's on any sort of wet surface. But neither wears well in the long haul.

I have 11,000 miles on some 275/65R20 Duratracs and am very pleased with their performance. FYI: I am going to consider giving the Cooper AT/W a run in the same size when the times comes.

I looked at the prices of those 20 inch tires. I was shocked to see that they are almost twice as expensive as a comparable 18 inch tire.

In some cases they aren't twice as expensive, but are 1 1/2 times as expensive. They don't use THAT much more rubber and belt.

I think since the 20 inch tires are more popular, they feel they can charge more & get more profit?

I've had a set of Duratracs on my shop plow truck for 5 years. Truck is a 1994 3500 regular cab with flatbed and big plow. Tires have done really well and perform well as an all season tire. Road noise is good too. Yes, Firestones are garbage.

I am on my 3rd set of Goodyear Silent Armor 10 ply and am getting about 50k + on each set and I am pleased with the wear on them as well as snow/mud performance. I am on 16" stock rims on my 99 2500 and haul loaded 30' covered trailer most of the time both on and off pavement.

In regards to the ridiculous price of 20" tires, I priced out a set of 285/60R20 Duratracs for my soon to be delivered 3500 Limited at $385 each, Holy Crap!!! I just bought 265/70/R18 for my 3/4 ton for $280 each two weeks ago. I dug a little deeper and found 275/65/R20 are only .6" inch taller, slightly narrower and $307 each. I'd rather have the narrower tire for winter use anyway.

Remember when 500 bucks would buy you a nice set of Michelins? LOL

285/60R20 is the stock size for our trucks. I've looked around just a little and noticed that the size doesn't have a lot of offerings. It would make sense that 275/65R20 tires run a little less, that has been a stock size on Fords for longer than Ram has offered 20's.

Duratrac and Silent Armor are both great tires. Wish they were available in the size I run.

I ran two sets of Duratracs on my 2011 Ram 3500 dually. Can't wait to justify some for my new 2016 Ram 3500 dually. Doing it next fall for sure.

Great tire, did awesome in snow and forest service road muck.

I will price them against the new BFG A/T KOs, but Goodyears Duratracs have been good for me.

Almost all the SRW Ram wheels are 8" wide back to 2003, IIRC only 17x7.5 for base steel wheels... don't know about the spares.

I was going to order a 2016, built one on the Ram site then searched and found one identical down to the color... except for the 20's. Would have preferred 18's for tire selection. Hoping to hear some good things about the Duratracs to see if they are worth the price to buy a set for 20's. Cousin of mine really likes them, but on a 1/2 ton. Would like to get a set if they hold up for a few miles and perform well in the winter and mild off-roading (hunting rig).

I have a studded set of Duratracs on our plow truck. They are excellent in that application. We don't put enough miles on that truck anymore to give you any feedback on mileage expectations.

I've got a set that I have studded and use them for winter only. I'm on the fourth winter with them now and they still look basically new as far as tread wear. Winter is easier on tire wear though. I like them. I ran a set before these year round and didn't track the mileage but I did have the feeling that they didn't seem to last that long back then using them year round.

I'm assuming the 285's are fine on an 8" rim since that is stock.
As far as mileage, a friend of mine has ran them for the last few years on his work trucks (electrician) and says he gets about 40-45k on a set. He's the one who talked me into buying them, now I won't run anything else. I ordered a set for me Eco Diesel I bought last week and my 3500 SRW Megacab long bed that will be here in a couple weeks, I'm THAT impressed with them.
