Is the 18/18 from the time you apply or make application or could it be from the time you first tried to get the problem resolved? I have been trying to get this resolved for almost 2 years. Although, I began by checking with service depts and this forum to see if there was a fix. Still, it has been in the dealer within the 18/18 time frame for this problem. And I agree with Don Fitzwater. I knew this truck had the problem from the first test drive and mentioned it to the salesman. We decided it could be addressed by the service dept. BIG MISTAKE. Seems I just keep learning the hard way.

If I remember right, the clock starts when you take delivery of the vehicle. Check out the DMV website or google California lemon law for the rules.

Yes it does. Very easy to do except for getting the connector apart. Hard to see up there where it is located and determine where to put a small blade alongside to release the clip. You get good directions with it and it requires you to "program" the unit to your vehicle by choosing a setting and depressing the pedal slowly. The unit is a little bulky but fit under my carpet without ties while I checked on how it functioned. Stayed there with no problem. So not quite plug and play but close.

How does the BD booster help the dead pedal issue? All it does is remap the pedal position to give better throttle response, it pretends you are pushing the pedal harder than you actually are. The dead pedal happens when you press the pedal hard and fast, most notably if you let off first then do it. I'd think the throttle booster would make it worse, not better.

What dealer are you using? Perhaps we can get a tech advisor out there to take a ride and see what your truck is doing. If it does it all the time it should be easy for him to see.

Sag.....I'm using Gill in Madera and I have that request in right now. Service advisor there wrote it up as requesting a field engineer. It does happen every time and as I mentioned earlier, the SA finally got behind the wheel and experienced what I have been complaining about. He was surprised at how much lag there is. It's going back in soon for a power steering box replacement. Also got him to experience that problem. The the steering is very heavy/tight and I have to drive it in and out of turns. The wheel does not return on its own. Checked alignment last week and it was okay so they are putting in a new PS unit. Hope that helps.

For Badunit....I do not know the electronics behind the unit but I can tell you it improves the lag a lot. Not completely but makes it safer to enter traffic and drive in the city. As I mentioned in another post, it helps most in the first three gears. From a stop you could almost say it acts normal and entering freeways is much better. Acts like it increases horsepower but you are just getting to realize what is under the hood. There is a little improvement in the top three but I still have to drop gears or ramp up to pass. I could live with the truck with this device on there but if I loaned the truck to someone I would have to brief them on how to drive it with the lag in acceleration in upper gears. Without the device, I would get rid of the truck. It's just too dangerous to drive and angers me every time I get behind the wheel.

I contacted the TA for the area and he can get down there but not for a couple weeks. They have him in training and in Detroit for a week. Get together with Kirk at Gill and he can find out what day he can get there.

Ordered a BD TSB from extreme diesel today.

Within 3 hours i had 3 unauthorized charges to my credit card.

Gonna try a different vendor

I got mine through Summit Racing equipment. Summitracing.com 800-230-3030 Can't tell anyone how it works. Just know it helps. I have had it off while going back and forth to the dealer. Really would like it back on but will wait until after the engineer looks at the truck. Sure hope they can figure a cure for this.

Thanks again Sag. I had the truck in again yesterday for the steering problem. Thought they were replacing the gear unit but it went back to the alignment shop. The techs at RAM gave new figures for a 4x4 heavy duty 3500 and it was found the camber was out of adjustment. Helped with the turning circle and the wheel not returning on its own but did not help the tight steering problem and trying to keep the truck in the center coming out of a turn. I look like a drunk trying to get it going straight and the understeer and oversteer is still a problem because of it. I was told the engineer had been contacted and might be calling me next week. Living in the mountains and having the steering behave like it is presents a real problem for me as well. If we can get these two issues resolved I can finally buy the camper I was going to put on this truck. Delayed because of all this but maybe there is a ray of hope after two years of waiting.

First I have seen of this device but I noted the first two things in the description is what the unit I purchased does. It works best modifying the lag from a stop and the in town driving. Not as good on the upper end but better than before. What amazes me is the years these have been available. Although they have them for the 2004.5, mine does not need it. Performance is brisk in that truck. No lag.

I just posted this on another thread. I posted some links below as well.

BD now has a Second Generation TSB. They also have a "Smart" button available.

I just ordered the BD Second Generation Throttle Sensitivity Booster with Remote Button from Xtreme Diesel Performance. With Instant 10% Discount it was $234 for the booster and $44 for the Smart button.

For you Canadian guys, I actually got it cheaper from XDP even with the exchange and shipping than I could get it for direct retail from BD Diesel Performance in Canada. It's $399 for booster plus $65 for switch plus Tax. I'm all in for under $400 CAD from Xtreme Diesel Performance in the States.

When I spoke with BD Diesel Performance direct, they had 87 in stock.

Hopefully this looks after this problem. I'll post my results once I get it installed.

Here are the links to the Booster and Switch mentioned above.

I have had the smart switch and TSB for a few months. It works, but I do have concerns about how long the switch will last.

It works as advertised, but I have noticed the far right led occasionally fades. So I don’t push the button to change sensitivity level very often. Even when the led fades, it doesn't affect the operation. But it can make you think you're in a different mode than you are.

Ludicrous is pretty crazy. Makes it rev like a lamborghini. I don't use ludicrous.
I usually leave it in valet mode. I dial up more boost when I am entering a highway or needing to pass.
I like the convenience.

Be careful ordering from xtreme diesel performance. Someone there stole my credit card # and went on a buying spree.
I caught it right away while the unauthorized charges were still "pending"

I re-ordered through Rolling Smoke Diesel. Someone here recommended them.
