We are still in DC, Gail's heard about Scrapple from one of his TV Shows on Food. We were out late last night so he took us to a diner this AM that had Scrapple, he thought that he would try it.
Really its not all that much different than some of the Native American things that we make at home.
Gail enjoys all types of Cultural Cuisine, Haggis is one of his Favorites. Instead of using Sheep's Heart, Liver & lungs we use Elk Offal
This evening he's taking us to a Elegant Dinner " Suit & Tie required " and an Evening Dress for us Ladies.
HE'S NOT A TOTAL BARBARIAN, just when we like him to be!!
I didn't know until I searched that Scrapple and Panhaas were the same stuff. Not sure I ever tried the stuff myself. But one thing from my always cooking and wearing an apron Grandma was her sugar pie. I wish we had her recipe.
There is a little hole in the wall store on the coast that keeps porkroll at the request of some summer folk from NJ and I must agree...that stuff rocks....
I got that Taylor pork roll at my local store. Never tried it hmmmm.
And FWIW, I just did the Sevierville trifecta, Smokey Mountain Knife Works, Buds Guns, and the Lodge outlet where I bought a Combo Cooker. A 10" ish Dutch oven where the lid is also a skillet. And a neat Lodge cookbook.
