Anyone able to get this new RAM to find a nearby auto parts store or camp ground????

My phone is a lot smarter than the truck.

Mine is the 2014 model. The data in it is really behind! Hopefully my new 2017 will be more up to date.

It is not data within the system, it is the ability of the system to search the internet and display the results. It fails in several area's in this manner. SNOKING

I'm not really familiar with this system since I'm not a Ram owner yet, but my experience over the years with any OEM navigation systems is that they are all junk. I'll probably order mine with the UConnect 5.0 and let my smartphone do the "thinking".

Snoking,a call to UConnect via your access on your mirror will give you the answer you are looking for.The UC operator will state that SirrusXM provides all data for "Yelp" when it is selected. They are responsible for your search results. When questioned by me to a call to SirrusXM customer service they state that it is up to the store owners to update or add to the search result not SirrusXM.So the buck stops here at the store owner in the the 8.4AN location via "SAT"...It is the store owners who do not want to pay for the Yelp advertising service anymore, hence they rely on your smart phone to tell you were they are.Is Yelp being phase out by the smart phone we will see.The recent UConnect 8.4AN "Siri" update allows you to find a auto parts store via the smart phone location (if turn on),and data is on as well..So do we really need Yelp? Well it is not free anymore and it does not use data from your phone so you either pay for the service along with other things you get or cancel and use data from your phone...Hence the latest Siri update see how FCA is working this...

Maybe you should trade it for a Duramax. They never have trouble

I have 8.4AN IN the 14 Durango- I assume it's basically the same system and database.
Ive never used any paid app, only what was included, and I've not searched for a campground. I have used the search to look for gas, eats, and any address I put in, and I have no issue with it. I'm getting ready to update the maps though.
If I were to do it again, I'd get the 8.4. Too many upgrades come with it, like the audio system and great phone pairing.

It does a good job on rest area's. Has arrows pointing in front or behind you and distance. Just wish it would do campgrounds and a few other things as well. Duramax's have to many cylinders BTW. Snoking

The problem with the 5.0, is that the dash will be missing gauges as well as not as informational. The 8.4 W/O NAV is the way to go, you'll like the gauge clusters, as well as more information on your dash.

If you're buying an SLT or Big Horn/Lone Star, the additional gauges are included with the Luxury Group option - the UC8.4 is not required.

I rarely use my Nav system but last week I did want to find out how close I was to the next rest area and was unable to figure out how. It didn't appear to be one of the POIs. Am I overlooking something?

Badunit. It searched the internet!

I did play around again with auto parts stores. Find nearest Autozone or other parts store by name worked.

Sno - Do you have to be stopped to search for places on the 8.4 NAV?

Stopped No!

I am referring to voice searches. Left button. "find nearest rest area" or "find nearest autozone" or "find nearest walmart"

Returns a list to the screen. For rest areas it has an arrow pointing ahead or behind you with mileage to it displayed.

so I have an early nav system in my Jeep... and have just bought a new to me.... 2013 3500 Laramie Longhorn.... but I still move my Nuvi from vehicle to vehicle because of the quality of its ability to find and nav.... I just wish it had a screen maybe twice the size....
