I just got my 2017 Trailer Life tow ratings guide and it states that Ram is still king.

2017 Ram 3500 CC LB DRW 30,320 Lbs 5th wheel towing (Aisin, 4.10 ratio, Cummins)

2017 Ram 3500 Reg Cab DRW 30,830 Lbs 5th wheel towing

2017 Ford F350/F450 CC LB DRW 27,500 Lbs 5th wheel towing

Now I don't know any 5th wheels the are that heavy, so either rating IMO is more than needed.

I also noted that Ford conventional trailer towing is rated 18,000 Lbs same as Ram.

Gooseneck trailers can be towed to the top ratings since they have lighter tongue weights. I am at my rear axle rating towing my 23K 5er.

How do you figure that? Goosenecks come in all sizes and shapes as do the loads they haul. I am pretty sure this Ram is maxed out on the pin.

Don't think you understood what I was saying.

Yup, I missed it, you were taking about pin weight on RV's more than goosenecks. That the RV's are kind of pin heavy before they reach the tow weight ratings of the Ram. Am I right now? Lol

I kind of blame the RV industry for that tho, they could add a third axle or run dually axles and place the weight better. They are being cheap and making the trucks carry the extra GVW that they rate them for. In fact, I think you are like, 15,500 GVW on your 14K truck. Not that I mind that, I don't, just sayin.... Some of the utility trailer builders are starting to add pin weight to their trailer GVW's now, like the RV industry does.

"Am I right now? Lol" HA, yes!

My pin is rite at 25% of my RV's weight of 23K. That puts me at my RAWR. From what I understand the DRV's that are the next size up are all triple axle and have lighter percentage pin weights.

It's impossible to load my truck to it's "advertised" RAWR and not be over 14K thats without adding any weight to my front axle. The FACT is the 350/3500/450 Dually trucks are all rated at 14K because of the licensing/insurance implications when going over that number. I love it when I get some that say "YOU ARE OVERLOADED" !!!

Yep, 14,000 lbs GVWR is the legal maximum for a class 3 truck. At 14,001 lbs GVWR, it's a class 4, with the registration, licensing, insurance, etc. implications that go along with the higher class. Combined front and rear GAWR on my truck is 15,750 lbs (6,000 front, 9,750 rear).
