I see three choices for the post 2013 Rams for a 5th wheel hitch and wondering if anyone has a preference and why. The companion is what I am leaning to now for my yet to be delivered 2017 3500. Thoughts?

B&W are by far the best, JMHO. I've toured the plant in Kansas, and they are high on Quality Control. My Companion is of top quality, the best thing about their companion hitches, are the locking jaws that fit the 5ver pin so close in tolerance, that I abandend the purchase of an Airglide. Good luck with your decision, and post pics of whatever you buy.

I love my B&W Companion RVK3600. (Don't know why the photo is rotated 90 degrees.)

Rusty I have that issue often with this site ONLY!

The B&W RVK3600 is far superior to their competition. Just compare to the Curt and REESE that are Made in China. Simple solid system with NO silly color coding. Plates touching handle closed and locked and a visual "TEST" and you are good to go.

Here is my Companion with the B&W Elite flat bed. The pic with the Companion only, has the flat bed base, with the same Companion hitch.

I ordered the OEM 5th wheel package. I think it comes with the puck and gooseneck cut out. Wonder if I should go with the BW companion in the puck or gooseneck hitch configurations. Any thoughts

I also read that the BW sider makes a clunking sound. Anyone with this set up that can confirm this. I have been able to get away with a slider in my 2003 and dont see why it would be any different for the new truck but was considering getting one for the added turning security.

If you have a long bed, why go through the added cost, hassle & work to accomadate a slider? Your clearance should be enough not to harm anything unless your doing very unusual maneuvers.

I had a B&W turn over with 5th wheel on my 2011. Now have a B&W with the pucks on my 2016. Both are very high quality and worked great.

I have ordered the short bed, current truck turns fine without slider but I was thinking that for a few hundred more given I will have the truck, hitch, trailer for years to come if the extra turning ability might be nice.

I am currently comparing the companion slider to this one that actually automatically moves the trailer back when backing up. Anyone use both or know of advantages vs disadvantages of either system.

Do not know that I can provide a comparison, but I have the factory puck system, and picked up the pullrite picture frame and the superglide hitch. Installed easily and I have a number of miles on it with a 43' 5th wheel toyhauler and it works great! Tows well, very sturdy unit. I have a short bed (not by choice but availability) and being able to get the trailer to 90* or better when required is a huge benefit.

I did did a lot of research on the auto sliders and chose the pullrite due to it's stellar reputation. I have been very pleased with it!

I have a SB CC with a B&W RVK3270 manual slider. It works well for me as I have storage boxes in the bed. Sliding the hitch back allows room for the latch handle to swing forward.

I would wait for this new model to be released.

RVK3670 manual slider for puck system.

I have the airborne on my trailer, wish I had put on the airborne sidewinder now. Seems like that would put the pivot back far enough on a non slider hitch to allow for two things. 1. clearance on sharp turns of trailer vs cab and 2. the 5th wheel would track behind the truck more like a travel trailer on a ball. Its taken some time and I am not sure I am a big fan of my 5th wheel cutting the corners much more than when I was towing on the ball.

Thats what it looked like and a slider option in the 600 dollar range. Makes me wonder if I need to spend more? My ideal set up right now would be to sell my airborne which I really like, buy a companion non slider and airborne/sidewinder. That puts the pivot 22 inches back instead of a slider that hits about 12 AND the trailer will track the truck better around corners. This would however set me back 1300 for companion roughly and 1600 for the airborne/sidewinder minus anything I could get for my airborne hitch. Without the air ride airborne I think it is about 5-600 less but I like the air ride currently.

Then again with a truck pricing out at 76K MSRP it makes this hitch combo look cheap :)
