EASY! Cummins 6.7 2013 and up oil change

I bought my 2016 Ram Laramie 2500 CTD 4x2 LB/CC in Jan. I took delivery of it on 11Mar16. I now only have 3217 miles on it so either I have to run the wheels off of it in the next couple of weeks or I need to take it to the dealer some time in the end of August or early September and have the oil and filters changed. I have not even rotated the tires yet. I usually do that every time I have the lube & oil service done. I figure at this rate I will have 100k on the truck in maybe 25years. Maybe I will take my wife to "Lake Okoboji".(Arnolds Park,Iowa) She's never been there, and I haven't been there in 50 years or so. That would be a nice trip.

When we bought this vehicle we had planned on doing a lot of traveling after "SWMbO" aka "She Who Must be Obeyed" aka my wife retired from her job. Well, due to things happening beyond our control we have yet to go anywhere. We did put almost 2200 miles on it in the first month we had the truck, (we went to Reno,NV. and back, and over to Yuma AZ and back.) The funny part of this is we have not even used a 1/4 tank of DEF yet!

Hope fully come September when it starts cooling off we will go some where for a week or so.

It's obvious you know that the oil change interval is every six months, but the fuel filters have a 12 months or 15,000 mile interval. When you said "filters" above.....I guessed you were referring to fuel filters, in addition to the oil filter.

His fuel filters should then be good until March 11th, 2017??? And his DEF is going to rot in the tank. He is someone that should run on the bottom 1/3 to 1/4 on the DEF tank. Or start towing the space shuttle! SNOKING

No I meant the Oil Filter. I should have clarified what I was going to change.

it was on YouTube .. Cummins had a video. The video showed how the cummins were built and tested... I believe they said they were run 24 hours...

Just looking thru this old thread. I took the CMEP Factory tour in May. They do not "run" the engines. They pull a random engine off the assembly line and attach a high horsepower electric motor to test systems.

Oil stays in the RAM engines but they drain the Freightliner 6.7's.

Oil change 5 in the books, I was just having a chuckle rereading this thread. Drain oil , 45 min later loosen filter through fender well, slide large freezer bag around filter then drop filter into bag ,seal , slide out through fender . unpackage 16035 , don't prime its completely unnecessary. Slide filter in , rotate , screw filter on , tighten . Pour in 11.5 litres of rottella T6 5/40 No need to even look at the dipstick.

when I made my cap, I got the thread insert from Cummins, like 6.00 i think, made my cap the same day i bought mine, cost 6.oo, my time , is priceless

To cap off the filter for removal thru the fender well, only way to go. You can get one from Genos. Too Tall has a great youtube video on it here. That guy was talking about making a homemade one.
