Hello. I'm having issues with my 1999 24v 5.9l cummins, I replaced the crank shaft sensors and it didn't start after that? So I replace the vp44 and then replaced the fass I have a new tuner but my truck will start will some help of ether but I only did it twice to get it up to my mechanic. I can not figure out what is wrong. My truck ran befor I changed everything but didn't have much power to it and it wouldn't black smoke. With the new parts I started with ether seems to have power now but once I turn it off it will not start again just cranks. Any help pls I already spent 2000 dollars in new parts if I can't figure the issue out by Friday I'm taking it to diesel performance

Let's start from the beginning. Was the engine running normal before you started changing parts? If it wasn't running normal, how was it running? Examples: idles rough, idles fine but no power, engine dies, etc. Describe in detail about how the engine was running before you replaced the crankshaft sensor.

When you used ether, did the engine start and idle? Did it keep running?

Also, please fill out your signature or at least give more detail about your truck (automatic?, 4wd?, stock injectors?, stock turbo?, etc.)

You have changed out a lot of parts and that alone can make troubleshooting difficult without knowing all of the symptoms and the sequence of events.

It's a 24v 5.9 4x4. The engine ran fine before the parts just didn't have power and sometimes had a dead pedal. It's a manual transmission. It was running normal no high idle and when started with ether no high idle and it stayed running until I shut it off and had more power since I put the new fass on it. It all started when j bought the truck it had a edge ez turner on it but didn't do any kind of power so I bought a new edge comp and still nothing so I hooked both programmers to my brothers truck and the both worked. But didn't work on mine so I called edge and they told me if I had a check engine light it could make the programmer not work. So I had the truck scanned and it needed a map sensor and a crank shaft sensor. So I replaced the map sensor forth nothing changed and then when I replaced the crank shaft sensor it started and then died immediately so I called diesel performance and they said it sounded like the vp44 then we changed that and the truck still won't start then bought a new fass and still nothing. So I started it with ether for the second time and I drove it for about 30 mins no issues but as soon as I shut it off nothing just cranks. It is stock

Need to install a fuel pressure gauge if you don't already have one. In the mean time, loosen the line going into the injection pump from the fuel filter and bump the starter to activate the lift pump. Do not crank the starter just bump it. Lift pump should run and you should have fuel coming out immediately. If there is a delay or if there is air coming out with the fuel you are getting air in the system somewhere which will give you hard start/no start issues. If that's the case we can go into that further but will wait to see what you find.
