my advise to anyone doing this job is do it as soon as the pump starts making that marble sound I waited on my 2004 and the pump had a complete failure it ate the belt not a huge deal but then you must change the belt and the belt is actually harder to change then the pump plus you will be doing it on the side of the road and may or may not be towing at the time the pump blew apart and thank god I was able to fish out the impeller blades from the water jacket at the time I had about 60K on my 2004.5

I was at the dealer this week getting two of the 4 open recalls fixed. I asked what was the number one repair on the ram and they said “we change a lot of water pumps”.

OK, and what about the gasket, do you put any goop on it such as RTV or anything, and what is the torq specs when retighening the bolts? Thanks, M.

Concentric, who makes these pumps, has manufacturing facilities in at least 5 countries. As for Cummins 12, that was a poor attempt at dodging the obvious. Time to think before you type.

witch pump is better the Gates pump or the Cummins pump.

I had both fail on my 2005. They both lasted about the same 35k-40k miles. I really think there is an overloaded bearing issue since they added the power steering pump to the belt from being gear driven.

When did that change from gear-driven to belt-driven power steering pump occur?

2007.5 with the 6.7L?

You do realize Cummins is a global manufacturer, and therefore buyer, of parts?

The last OEM Cummins wp I saw approximately 3-4 months ago had China inked right on the box.

YES, I do understand that! If I have a "CHOICE" as let's say Geno's I will pick the non China product.
