I have been getting emails from FCA on the airbag recall. I have been dragging my feet till the salt gets washed off the roads. I also hate going to the dealer mostly because of the temptation of looking at newer trucks. So hard to resist......
There have been enough people injured or killed by the bags that it makes me wonder why anyone would protect their truck more than their life or that of their passengers. This one seems like a no brainer to me.
I think they're physically different. The driver side is a smaller unit tucked into the steering wheel. The passenger side is larger as it has to fill more space when deployed.sag2
My 03 had the passenger side done two years ago, but the dealer said the driver side was not on the recall list. I asked him if they were the same item and he said yes they were. Have you ever heard of only the passenger side being needed?
Thanks.
Well I finally gave in and had my recall done. I started getting air bag light, turn signal indicators in dash have a mind all their own and whole dash has about a one-second delay (tach and gear indicator). Took it back to the dealer and they claim my instrument cluster is bad.
Yes 2006 Mega cab CTDIs your truck a 2006? I can't see your signature from my phone.
Many common electrical problems in the '06 all would cause a remarkable coincidence. Of course it is possible but it makes you wonder if tech shorted something that lead to the failure. I also believe it could be a compnent failure and the dealer would simply start by replacing cluster.Very common for instrument cluster failures on the '06. Do a search in this forum about it. There should be a lot of reading on the subject.
