Purchasing Diesel fuel on trip

Is there a requirement for dike containment for those tanks? IE, if you have 10,000 gallon capacity fuel the dike capacity must be the same .

I'm not sure exactly what the deal is on those tanks , but I know its up to the EPA code on the tanks. Since we are less than a 1/4 mile from what is known as Snake Creek, we also have to comply with a Spill Prevention Control Countermeasure Plan ( SPCC) for the EPA. https://www.epa.gov/oil-spills-prevention-and-preparedness-regulations

I am not well versed in the requirements for fuel station above ground tank storage, but in other regulations secondary containment is usually 110% of the capacity of the largest container. I'm betting the requirement is the same.

Yup. I have a 2000 gal heating oil tank installed in an above ground bunker with at least 110% capacity. It replaced a single wall steel 2500 gal tank buried at the same location.

2017 6.7 CC SRW - This is my first diesel and first interstate trip. Leaving mid June from southwest Connecticut and driving to Indianapolis. Might take some short trips off the interstate to see some points of interest. What is the recommendations on purchasing diesel. Purchase only from the truck stops? What brands if any should I stay away from. When do you guys fill up - at the 1/4 mark or, higher or lower?

I buy where they sell a lot of fuel. My thinking is cleaner and waterless fuel.

This is not about purchasing diesel fuel on a trip.

But about finding diesel fuel on the way to or from work. Found a shell station that only 2-3 years ago installed diesel pumps. I'm guessing their fuel tanks have less sediment accumulated, so I'm buying my fuel there for now (usually)
