We just got a new 2018 Ram 3500 with the puck set up. We didn't get the ball for the center hole because they were on a "Do not ship" from the factory according to the parts guy at the dealership. Wanting the Andersen hitch I looked around and found a B&W ball for that application. Curt also offers a similar setup. Ordered the B&W ball, ordered the Andersen hitch.

When I went to install the hitch it won't go all the way down to the bed floor; it just sits on top of the ball. Is there a way to get the square tube to go higher? It appears to be maxed out at the top of the hitch. There is about 1/4" all the way around the hitch between the bed and the frame.

Has anyone else heard of this problem?

If you like the idea of a Folding hitch and one that does dent the bed the Andersen is the way to go.

Why not just get the B&W Puck hitch???

Do you have the factory GN prep? You mentioned the puck, I believe the 5th and GN options are separate and can be ordered independently.

My truck didn't come with the GN or 5th wheel prep, I installed the B&W GN hitch and am using the B&W Companion hitch which uses the GN hole. In the instructions it specifically states it will NOT work with other GN hitch manufacturers due to B&W unique shank design. I wonder if this may be the problem you are encountering .

I have the prep package, the one with 5 holes. Apparently Ram has a GN ball but it's not being shipped now. B&W, and Curt, make balls that go in the GN hole just as the Ram one does. The problem I ran into is the B&W shank is a little too tall for the Andersen hitch with the tube it shipped with. Upon more looking around after info from another site I found Andersen makes several different height tube. I just need the shorter one.
