So glad to see this Kneeling resolution

Update. Went thru the simulation today with the CT scanner. It wound up that I was assembled on a Monday morning after the employees spent the weekend partying with booze and maybe weed. My bowel system is sitting right in front of the prostate. Solution: lets stick a balloon up his keister to move it (just friggin great). So now I am all marked up in 5 places and tatooed where the glow in the dark will happen. The bad part I have to have the balloon everytime. I was kind of kidding around on another thread with Cummins coming out with a gay pride pin. Maybe I will have to get one :D. The radiation will begin Nov. 5th.

You know they're going to fill the balloon with lots and lots of helium then run around the room with you tethered to the IV juice line while the doctor and tech shoot your moving five targets don't you? Prayers for you Dave! Let the healing begin! :D

Some people ain't got no sense of humor and I hope that they don't quit their day jobs to be stand-up commodians. (They might get flushed!) It is permissible to use "ain't" in the emphatic form of speech. LOL

Three things when going into the hospital for "stuff", both big and small:
  1. When you enter a hospital all modesty goes out the window. Just look at the fancy wardrobe consisting of "bare-back" gowns, extra cast of Lookie-Lou trainees staring, the "snap" of latex gloves and "you wanna do WHAT"???!!!; (oh, the humilities!)
  2. Faith and positive attitude will get you through the most trying times and on the road to healing;
  3. A sense of humor to keep spirits up.
Plus most doctors and staff I have encountered said they appreciated and benefited from the last two.

I know a lot goes through an individual's mind when facing these challenges. So Dave, if I ever cross the line let me know and I'll reevaluate the pep talk.

All you guy's are doing well. Any humor to go along with this is good medicine. As nasty as I am doing right now with no stamina, lack of energy they say it will get worse when they actually start making me a glow worm. The brain says it wants to do something to keep busy but the body does not want to cooperate. This started as the man killer shot started doing it's thing, lack of testosterone I imagine. When the tech told me about the balloon I said " Maybe we should re-evaluate my life expectancy if I do not get radiated". A friggin balloon 5 days a week for what they say is going to be 39 treatments does not exactly thrill me, Bladder 75% full (everyone knows how old people pee), a clear bowel system and then I also have Crohn's disease on top of all of this. Then the man killer shot for 2 1/2 years.
I am afraid it is going to be a miserable time.

Faith, Dave, faith. Your faith and will power will be tested to the max but you can get through this. Just look the devil in his eyes and tell him you are just passing through and he can keep his hell for those who earn it.
IIRC you have been married for some time. Therefore, your sweetie-pie has not thrown you out with the bath water, which means she will be a great source of encouragement through the upcoming challenges. Yes, she will also be tested. So, when you unexpectedly reach out and bark and growl at her, find time to apologize and let her know how much you deeply appreciate her concerns and that you love her. Just don't let it get you down.

Then again, maybe YOU are one of the patients that will get through the ordeal with minimal issues. Be positive in all you encounter! (even if it hurts)

Yeah, Cindy deserves a lot of recognition for putting up with me thru the muscle car stage and a lot of other things. We were married in 1973 while I was in tech school at Chanute AFB, Rantoul Illinois. She went thru the frigid winter of Illinois and the seasons at Loring AFB. Except for the female hormonal states she has taken well care of me. Neither of us are spring chickens anymore. She told me my no worky utensils are no big deal as there is more to the relationship. Sometimes she can be a PITA but I am probably in that category also at times. So we have survived for 45 years.

Wow. Sounds like you got your wife from the same store as I did. Peggy ("mine, mine, mine..." < seagull quote from Finding Nemo) put up with the muscle car phase and would actually "allow" me cruise with the windows wide open - in the rain and snow - up thru our wedding day! The day after was the first I learned about the invisible nose ring!!! (owie-ouch!!! Yessss dear...):eek:o_O:(:):):):D SHE has taught me WELL! :D She continues to encourage and enlighten me through the difficult times. We're closing in on 47 short, fast years.
Ah, Chanute, winter of '72, lungs crystalizing, marching on ice in the cold bazillion degrees below 0 to class. We all looked like a bunch of amateur tap dancers stomping cockroaches. '70 Cuda 440+6,B&M TorqueFlite(no-such-thing-as-a-gentle-shift) did NOT like it one bit either.

David, you have not come all this way for nothing and you have a lot of people holding you up and it sounds like you have darned good woman on your wing. 47 years with my Cindy and I can't imagine life without her. We're all rooting for you David.

Thanks Gregg. Yes everyone has been very supportive and I really appreciate the advice and thoughts. No one here has gone unnoticed. I can relate to no life after a spouse dies, it has to be one horrible experience.

Update. Well, had the first glow in the dark today 11/07/2018. First of 39 treatments so the last will be after New Years. We will see how long it takes for the radiation to wear me down. Of course after killing off the testosterone the energy level and stamina slowly degraded to nothing. Time will tell,I want to thank all of you guys for the support.

Hang in there Dave. You WILL get through this speed bump in life. There are lots of people here for your support. My wife and I are continuing our prayers for you, too.
