U-Connect with 8.NA is one year free,
SiriusXM is one year free,
Nav adds:
1. Traffic 5 years free
2. SiriusXM Travel Link 5 years

We were already XM radio users. I called to cancel the XM receiver in Old Blue and she asked about the new truck. The dealer had not set it up correctly, she the XM CS rep fixed it up to automagically go on my account when the one year trial is complete and she open the channels to the All Access package, which includes every channel of satellite radio, plus streaming SiriusXM online or the app.

So Nav has several benefits beyond just NAV. I will have to study U-Connect more towards the end of the first year to decide if it is something I want to pay for. May cancel Onstar on our SUV and spend the money on this.

My Ram came with XM. It sucks where I live. I go into the mountains and it's always losing signal. A leaf blows in front of the antenna and I lose signal. They say they are setting up repeaters in BC and should have this corrected by years end.
My F150 had Sirius and I never had an issue. Ever.

On Nav, the dealer installed it at what would have been a $625 fee for me as part of my agreement of sale. I only have to pay for future updates.

For the OP, you need to go to a different dealer. The Grid heaters must cycle or you will have a no start issue when it gets colder, not to mention very rough hard starts for the engine and emissions system. When you start the truck while you are out and in it, are you keeping the door open? I quite often just push the brake with my hand and press the start button and watch the timer count down but have to press the start button again to get the starter to kick in. This is only with the door open. Not really related, but these trucks do odd things if you do something out of the "normal".
Hopefully when they call in they would likely get a different tech that isn't sitting in Key West Florida or something and has no idea of what a grid heater would be for and have a little more common sense!
As for the app for the remote start, Yea, us Canadians get the shaft on this one. When I ordered my truck I was looking forward to setting this thing up as I had seen it on tv commercials, but then too found out that you can only get the app on the American iTunes store and not the Canadian one. I felt like the victim of false advertisements!

Mine too will wait for the grid heaters to start with the FOB. Don't know about the uconnect, I assume so. When I use it I'm outside of "listening range", and it's only been cold enough for the extended grid heaters a couple times this year anyway (in GA).

How is that "Dually Mega Cab LONGBED" working out for you? Do people come up to you and say what the #()%*#, how did you get this truck? Your truck should make the calendar and a cover of the TDR mag. Hope you have submitted it. SNOKING

Thanks MP.. I understand how it is supposed to work… Like you said the tech support hasn't got a clue but i am going to call in myself… I know the issues it will cause and thats what i am trying to avoid by getting it fixed before the real cold sets in. I will see what response i get when i call in… The truck came in from Kokomo Indiana and even has the snow plow prep package so I would have thought it would have been set right for cold weather..

I live in the deep south and mine has already cycled through the heating process a couple of times in the past two weeks. Good luck on getting yours sorted before the cold weather really sets in.

Yeah, I just tested mine two ways. 1. With the FOB 2. With U-Connect on my smart phone. Both times the grid heaters cycled first. The yellow curly Q showed on the dash during the grid heat cycle.

Snoking

Thanks Snoking. Mine does not wait and the dealer still says he can't get Tech Support to agree that it is supposed to so I will have to try and find a tech somewhere that can tell me whats going on with it… OR a tech that can tell me where my technician can find it in the program…..

I think they fed you a pile of bs. I live in Nova Scotia Canada and I remote start my truck just about everytime I leave home. Generally our winters are not brutally cold similar to Boston we do get the odd cold day. Autostart gives me an idea of outside temp. Under 10 sec not bad out , 20 sec its chilly , over 20 sec I think I'm going back to bed. The idea of the grid heater is to preheat the intake air to allow for easier combustion to get started and will continue to cycle even after its running. I'm no tech but it sounds like you have and issue with the timer that controlls the cycle. Good luck and try a different dealer.

Do you ever get this gauge and symbol on cold start?? What exactly is this? Specifically????

Timer of the grid heaters?

• Wait To Start Light — Diesel Only
The “Wait To Start” telltale will illuminate for
approximately two seconds when the ignition is
turned to the RUN position. It’s duration may be longer
based on colder operating conditions. Vehicle will not
initiate start until telltale is out. Refer to “Starting Procedures”
in “Starting And Operating” for further
information.

Can not find info on the 0-s-75 gauge. Might be a timer display.

I find it hard to beleive that a below (ambient) 20 F degree grid heater could burn itself up in 30 secs. A resistance electrical heater will generally not heat up that fast and will take 5-10 seconds to really even heat itself up... Much less any of the surrounding air.

But maybe they installed a different grid heater on your model????

From the 15 Owner's Manual. Find a new dealer. And have them check the intake air temp sensor. Perhaps it is not reading correctly.

REMOTE STARTING SYSTEM — IF EQUIPPED
#ad

This system uses the Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) transmitter to start the engine conveniently from outside the vehicle while still maintaining security. The system has a range of approximately 300 ft (91 m).

NOTE:
  • The vehicle must be equipped with an automatic transmission to be equipped with Remote Start.

  • The Remote Start system will wait for the “Wait To Start” telltale to extinguish before cranking the engine. This allows time for the intake heater to pre-heat the incoming air, and is normal operation in cold weather. Refer to “Wait To Start” in “Understanding Your Instrument Panel”.

I know you already got the answer but just another confirmation, I have a 2015 megacab and mine waits for it to cycle every morning. Its been 20-30 deg everyday for the last few weeks.
