I understand their reasoning for the de-rate, but why not do like the big truck folks do, pay to play. You want the higher rating of this engine, and warranty? Here's the price. In the end they are only fooling themselves, when you drive down the road, and see hotshotters loaded to the gills with fully warranted 3500 pickups.. Be nice if FCA gave C&C owners option of derating engine or not. They haven't figured out there is a market for C&Cs other than commercial.
Cheers,
Ron
Just to be clear, Ron, I was agreeing with youTFucilli
yep, in fact I've helped some friends pick out their 3500s for max towing, advising them to get 4.10s, so I'm aware of 3500 capabilities. I'm also aware my 5500 has a 9.5 gal def tank, has 52 gal fuel tank, has a tow body with more storage, more bed to trailer clearance, and bigger brakes. I like the 19.5 inch tires, some don't. Since I've modified performance on all 6 Ram Cummins Trucks I've owned, I'm pretty aware of the benefits and consequences of modifying; benefits always worked.
I'm happy 3500 owners are happy with their trucks and I'm happy with my 5500. Nice to be all part of the Ram Cummins family, right?
Happy Trails, Ron
Intereating that a lighter graphite iron block had less vibration than heavier cast iron. I'll stick with cast iron. And watch the resale price of the manual transmission trucks skyrocket as they become collectors items because they are no longer made.
Wait for 2020 and 8 speed auto.Time for a new truck! LOL
Also needs air brakes and a CDL A.Going from 30k to 35k on trailer weight is a big mistake with 17" tires. That truck needs 19.5s...
