Intermittent fuel knock

2005.5 high pressure fuel pump?

In June I had to have my engine Replaced. Less than 24 hrs after I pick my truck up the issue started and is still persisting to this day. I am completely frustrated and at my whits end with what could be causing the problem. Here's the history.... replaced all injectors and tubes ( Aug. 2017 ) due to hard start and occasional failure to start.
Truck ran fine. Then the transmission had to be rebuilt (October or November 2017 ). then I end up with serious blow by and I take it to the shop to have engine replaced ( June 2018 ). I pick the truck up and in less than 24 hrs and 60 miles one of the injector banks shuts down, I immediately limp it back to the shop that installed the engine. They inform me that I have a bad injector, so being that the injectors were less than a yr old I have it warrantied out and the shop charges me another $225 the day after I give them 6K for the engine. Pick the truck up no change same issue. This shop then tells me its the ECM and that they cannot fix it. I then take it to one of the local dealerships for diagnostics they tell me its my injector wiring so I order them and change them , still no change. so I take it to another dealership they keep it a couple of weeks to get the issue to duplicate once it does they tell me I need new injectors, so Long story short I just put a set of Bosch injectors along with new tubes new fuel filter and new fuel pump. NO CHANGE , it still does it. the trucks on board codes are not showing other than p0073 which will not clear at all, when you put a scanner on the truck it throws various codes each time not always the same other than the p0073. Any help would be beyond appreciated. Thank you in advance

As a guess you have a pinched or rubbed bare harness somewhere. Start by disconnecting some of the peripherals that will cause issues like the fan and the grid heaters relays.

OK, stupid question, if it has a P0073 Intake Air Temp sensor fault active, why are they saying replace the injectors?

THE P0073 is the only code that the truck itself registers. All of the other various codes come up when it shuts whichever bank down and are only picked up with a scanner, the on board or whatever you call it does not show any codes other than the P0073 and that one is the only one that will not clear with a scanner. It is just all over the place and none of this was an issue before the engine was installed and all of it has been ongoing since less than 24 hrs after i picked the truck up

I would guess there is a bad ground or wiring harness damage.

Since the P0073 is persistent get that fixed and we what follows. Inspect that sensor and it’s harness closely.

We have checked grounds and cleaned the paint from them. havent seen any visible signs of damage to harness not sure where to go from here

Just to clarify, the engine was a "short block" i believe. i know they had to change parts from the previous engine to this one.

That code is for the sensor on the air intake at the air box. Is it present and hooked up solidly?

You won't find a Cummins specialist that will work on these trucks. You need a Dodge specialist that has the tools to connect and troubleshoot the issues plus familiarity with the platform. You are looking at either a dealer or independent diesel shop that knows Dodge platform. A lot will advertise diesel services and be useless with the electrical portion other than swap a lot of parts.

Well the dealership is out of the question. I have already taken it to 2 different dealerships and evidently neither one of them diagnosed it properly and thats exactly what they did was throw parts at it. Everything the 2 to them said it was (both of which said different parts) has been replaced. An independent shop is who installed the engine and that is when the trouble started but cant get them to admit they caused the issue.

Here is a list of all the codes the truck has thrown through various scans
P0201, P2002, P0203, P0204, P2127, P2146, P2149, P0073, P0237, P2122, P0118, P0113, P0205, P0206, P0643, P2121, P0193, P0251, P0868, P0088, P1750
Some of them would repeat on different scans and some did not. Any insight would be greatly appreciated

To throw all of those, I'd have to agree with previous posters, damaged harness, bad ground, or damage to the plug/pins at the ECM.
