Doubt they'd do better a second time. I'm going to run it for now. Maybe they'll replace all the drag links with new, not holding my breath on that though.
I've seen some post that their service advisors said definitely. When I asked - they basically just shrugged their shoulders???
Who knows...

I'd check the torque and figure out another way around that.

If I had a new drag link and the nuts had never been loose I would prob feel safe to continue. Problem is thread quality/engagement in the sleeve itself. Welding the nuts to sleeve basically adds new/good threads to sleeve and locks it all together. If nuts are just torqued it is still possible for threads to pull out of sleeve. - That is way I understand the issue.

I guess after 5 years for me, and no change in the markings , steering wheel remaining centered, looking at welds like yours , is the big reason I feel more safe with them keeping their hands off my truck, until they decide to replace with the new drag link or a different fix other then welding. IMO that welding fix is insane. Sure its a fix, but not the right one. As I have said before I will keep an eye on it, its not going to all of a sudden come apart, thats not what has been happening, nuts coming loose ,and steering wheels getting off center has been the issues.

Granted for those that blindly drive, and have no knowledge of the drag link, or keeping an eye on it, getting the recall done is probably a pretty good idea.

Yeah if mine had never been loose I would probably would have waited. Previous owner obviously never cared/looked. RS nut was loose on mine with some play in sleeve. Wanted to get documented repair so I could continue to drive without issues.

Reply to my email.

"Answering your questions, I can see that the truck drag link bar would have two repair procedures, the dealership will first repair the vehicle by welding the drag link bar at the jam nuts preventing the jam nuts from loosening while driving this would be while we manufacture a new part for the drag link bar."

Just had mine done - no choice since the 4wd broke and they must do this recall if the truck is there. The weld is OK - on 2 sides of the nut - both nuts. However they didn't do it correctly, If the nut is loose they are supposed to remove and measure threads. The nut was loose (a good two full turns) and they never removed the drag link to check. Easy to tell since both nuts for the tie rod end type joints are still just as muddy as when I brought it in.......sigh.....

I asked who worked on it - the same guy who overfilled the trans by 2 qts when doing the solenoid pack recall.

I don't think many dealers/techs are doing it 100% to their procedures. Mine was loose also and I doubt they did anything besides final torque and weld (if you can call it that )

I took my truck to the dealer today to have the LED bed lights enabled and they asked if I wanted the V06 recall done, and I declined.

While taking to the tech be mentioned that the new drag link parts will be different than what’s on the ‘19’s and that even the ‘19’s will be getting the new drag link once manufacturing has caught up.

Wow, very knowledgeable tech!

Okay, looks like they changed process again. I’m wrong. The tech could have done it almost correct. They no longer require the drive going to be fully removed, meaning no new nuts. However, steering wheel still is exactly where it was before he did anything. Not straight.

I had the V06 done yesterday morning. I asked the service writer and one of the main diesel mech's about a replacement and I was told by both that there is NO replacement and that the tack welded nuts was the only solution. I don't know what to believe.
