Todd,

I'm on board too.... I have approx 7 gallons in my 9 gallon tank. Going to add 2 gallons of distilled water to top off. When it gets down again, I'll add two more. Then, I'll add either 2 gallons distilled to 2.5 gallons of Def.

It all makes sense to me. Thanks for the info.

Cheers, Ron

LMBO Big time, its no guessing who the followers are. Please share some type of proof that 32.5% is the correct level...... other then someone says SO. I already presented that Question to API back in 2014 in front of the entire audience.. In Albuquerque NM.
Its this simple KT.Sno,News, all followers of what they read, I have yet to see one of them be inventive or do something that cannot be paste copy or data of their own. They lack freedom on subjects on the merit of NO action or proof, Sno,KT,News, My post are for those that are willing to step up and Challenge the Status Quo- not be part of it.

The article in the link shows there is a reduction in NOX emission by going from 10% to 20% to 30%. urea concentrations with the highest reduction being at the 30% concentration. There is some margin by playing with dosing rates. For example a dose rate of 0.6Lit/hr @30% give basically the same reduction as a 20% @0.9 Lit/hr.

Enjoy the reading.

Nice find Ipennock, the findings confirm My results, The Testing was done under load that will increase the Flame Temp thus producing Max NOx. Also remember the window for injection temp is critical and impossible to hit 100% of the time.

Also My testing was on My Eco 3.0, Not My Cummins, Much Smaller displm Diesel create More NOx, asking 3.0 to push a 6000LBS+ requires it to be under boost (Higher) and load thus increasing the Flame MY Eco cruise at 200-300F EGT ( I have 2 Probes on Each) higher than My Cummins.

I No longer Own the Eco. This video shows the ETs when it missed behaved, Check out those DPF Temps It cruised at 1100-1400F . I do not have vids of the Analyzers, it would have required two People, and at the Time I did NOT believe it was needed. Big Mistake the Take Time Vids will Happen.

Todd,

Thanks to you and others, I DID NOT buy a 2018 Eco Diesel for my wife. There were lots of them on the lot and the salesman, a friend who sold us three Ram Cummins trucks, mentioned two or three times he could make us a great savings on an Eco Diesel. He's a great guy, and I just old him what I wanted. I picked the mechanicals (5.7L V8), but Vivian picked the accouterment level and colors.

When I get recovered from my surgery, I may take a peak at the DEF injector and SCR chamber. I'm a hands on guy and holistically believe in preventative maintenance. And, since I maintain a log with every tank of fuel, every tanks of DEF, and all maintenance performed. I don't mind posting results and impressions.

Cheers, Ron

Wiredawg. I here Ya...Rumor has Fiat is not developing any Power plant pass the current 2019 3.0 Version, so likely will be the last 1/2 Diesel FCA sells in America, things may change, Decision will be made as thing develop is My best Guess.

My 2019 Limited is the Best Gas Truck I've own ( So Far), I already have 5K miles since purchase in June 19, I hope Yours 19 Gets The Mileage Mine does, It gets 2-4PG better than My 2014-12 5.7s

I hope you make a full recovery, I know some of postings this week jump around a bit, My Dad died Tuesday Night and arrangement needed to be made.

His health has been failing that last few months and died in His sleep. Me and My sister Made arrangement for My Mom the last few days of His life and I glad I did.

So I started the test last night. The DEF was showing about 2/3 so I'm not positive on the actual level in the tank. I added 1 gallon of distilled water and it took the concentration from 32% to 25%. Probably not scientific, but the DEF dosing rate at idle was 9-11 g/hr before when it was at 32%, and 11-13 g/hr at 25%. At first glance it would appear that it just upped the dosing rate to compensate for the diluted DEF. I have not been driving the truck much so it will take a while to get any feedback on using the diluted mixture. I will also bring the refractometer home from school and double check the accuracy of the in tank sensor. It does appear to be fairly accurate as I first put in a little less than 1/2 gallon, went around the block and it was at 30%.

At certain conditions the Rate increases it will level off to normal, I mentioned it earlier that the Ammonia Smell would increase at 1st startup it levels off, but if you leave it run at Idle the smell will return its harmless....MY guess is its the increase in H mixing with the NOx ( @ colder ETs) over the years I kept track of usage its not measurable , in other words it was like 1 GP 1000 miles. DD and 1 GP 400 miles Towing, additional.

Sag2 thank for the Update and Info.

Yeah. Dosing will increase up to a point. Increased dosing likely doesn't hurt it for a tank or 2.

But dosing will only increase to a point .... To the programmed limit, i would think

I never check that good point.

My 2013 Chamber was like New when it was Changed back 2017 (T05) So it had 3 years of Usage at 10-20% during summer months.

986 miles, 92 gallons of fuel towing my 10K# 5th wheel RV and the DEF gauge still reads full. That's the way the gauge acted with a full tank of 32.5% DEF pulling around that distance. Don't know for sure but it doesn't look like it's using any more out of the DEF tank with 2 1/4 gallons of DW added to the 2 1/2 gallons of fresh 32.5% def. One other thing, no codes, no cel.
