Actually, the 2020 Ford is rated at 2600RPM. The 2018 Cummins was rated at 2800, but not the new one. I was surprised since all the Big 3 pickup diesels have been rated at 2800 for years now.

Ford is saying 2800.

The 2019 Cummins is also rated at 2800.

I never had a problem with the TorqShift 6 in those conditions, but another advantage is that the Ford has SelectShift. That means you can choose manual mode and easily shift between gears by pushing the +/- buttons on the gearshift. RAM only lets you lock out gears, but not manually shift. Not to mention Ford will allow you to start in 2nd or 3rd gear if you want. It only prevents manual selection of gears to high for the speed to prevent stalling, or too low to prevent over-revving.

I wouldn't say it was a problem, just that it doesn't work nearly as well as my Aisin.

I would like the ability to lock out gears on the bottom to, or just full manual mode.

Having been a Dodge Cummins guy since 1990... I wouldn’t even think much let alone consider Ford. That was until my last two Ram’s. The 12 pre DEF had to be Lemon Lawed . It kept filling the crankcase with fuel. The 13 well the engine is awesome. Everything bolted to it or programmed into it sucks. I will say that the 68RFE has just worked. Granted it shifts strange, Programing issue. But it has held up very well. Fiat just can’t seem to get all the bugs out of their programming. Today everything works right now. Next start the computer forgets to turn things on. Radio, blue tooth, key switch, dash. Things . It’s really fun when you walk out to the truck hit the un lock button get in and find everything DEAD! Only way to get it to wake up is to cycle the lock un lock button until the dash lights up. Then all is good.. That issue the dealer can’t fix. New parts, new flashes. Nothing has resolved it. One day it may just not wake up...
All that said I have driven a few Super Duty’s Not a fan of the V8 but every one I have driven always started and the Radio always turned on. Hands down they have the transmission shifting programming spot on. Their transmission was the most like a manual transmission I have ever driven. Meaning I was always in Controll . No dropping into mutual when coasting down the long hill by my house like my Ram does every other trip even in tow haul mode. What good is an engine brake if the transmission goes into free wheel 1/4 of the way down the hill when you need the brake the most!
Ram needs to get their act together if they expect to keep me as a customer. I don’t care if It’s got a Cp3 or a Cp4-2 for what these trucks cost today It just better work and not live at the dealers service bay for days on end like my last two Rams have. Everyone did not care for Dalmer owning Chrysler back in the day. I will say this quality was way better when they did. My friend’s 04,05,06 and my 05 they just worked and are still working. Yes stupid things did happen. Key switches injectors an a clutch but they never left any of us stranded. If I was buying a truck today I’d probably buy a ford.... like. Said Ram really needs to step it up. And a 12” nav screen that only works sometimes is not the answer.

Depends upon where you look on the Ford site, I guess:

According to FCA back in 2015.....I was the only person on earth that this happened to...........They never fixed mine either, but ended up buying it back......:)

In my opinion (having owned four Ford 6.7L trucks)...this new 2019 Cummins engine has "as good" or even better throttle response than Ford. Vastly better than the throttle response in my 2018 Cummins I traded for my 2019.
I have driven a 2019 Cummins and it was much better then the 14-18 for throttle response, good point.

I don't measure any vehicles ability or success by it makers marketing. Ford power is overrated, and it will not survive long at 2800RPMs at Max advertised Load.

HP Hmmm I will take the 2019 Cummins/Asin combo with some simple mods at about $2/3K and it will out live out pull any Ford and My bank Account is still safe.

The BLUE OVAL and TC will never be compatible.
Their is Only 1 2000HP 2003+ Ford in N/A in the (Professional) Pulling world and was never a contender.
Cummins still dominates in the Pulling world while Duramax is King at the Track.

Ford Powerplants just do NOT stay together in long term ownership and 500+ HP.

There's a valid Reason Ford Dsl are a rare site at Professional Levels, Because their last at the event and the first to leave.

22K on mine with 11K towing... I'm not worried for the first 100K.. it's those next 100K I'm worried about.

I think the racor/cummins filtration will help longevity. But anytime you increase pressure, you take a chance at sacrificing longevity. Ram is confident your pump will not grenade until 5yrs or 100k. Then they will happily rebuild it at your cost

I've got 7655 miles on it without a hiccup. Maybe when my MaxCare warranty runs out I'll switch over to a CP3 but as far as concerns.... I'm good. Wife's 2014 Audi Q5 TDI has the same pump.... 88k on her CP4. We get fuel only at Chevron, They sell quite a bit of diesel at the station and the refinery is only 11 miles away..... It's fresh and clean.

At 5 years when my engine warranty is up I will be around 25k miles. I’m sure many will be north of 100k. I will go by the high mileage experiences of others to decide weather it’s worth a swap or not.

I own a CP4 truck, and yes it is on my mind. Maybe not as much as initially, but still there. I simply do not buy the "because high pressure" excuse. Look at a teardown video of both, the CP3 is a MUCH more robust design. Call me a cynic, but there are two reasons for the CP4, it weighs less, and it costs less. Some seem to think being labeled 4.2 means it is version 2, or a revision, but as best as I can tell from reading about them, it indicates it has 2 pump sections. I certainly hope the CP4 has been improved internally, as has been alleged. So far I have not seen Ram, Cummins, or Bosch put out anything concrete besides platitudes. Do I think major corporations would intentionally risk millions of dollars of warranty claims, and a stain on their reputation by gambling on cost savings on a component? You bet your boots I do. I was in business almost 40 years, and saw it repeatedly. I sincerely hope that is not the case.

When I drain the front cartridge fuel filter, and pull it out, I always leave the drain open when removing the front cartridge filter. It seems there is always some residual fuel in the bottom that will not naturally drain out and I can hear some sucking sound and as a result possible mixing of dirty fuel from the outside of the filter with the clean fuel on the inside of the filter. I suppose there is also the possibility that some particles could be sucked off the outside of the filter and down to the bottom of the filter canister landing on the clean side?

It always makes me nervous when I change that front filter because that is the last line of defense of the entire fuel system.

I think I would be even just a bit more worried if I had a CP4 when changing that front filter. I do my own filter changes, but might be inclined to have the dealer do it during the powertrain warranty period if i had a CP4.2
