Having been a Dodge Cummins guy since 1990... I wouldn’t even think much let alone consider Ford. That was until my last two Ram’s. The 12 pre DEF had to be Lemon Lawed . It kept filling the crankcase with fuel. The 13 well the engine is awesome. Everything bolted to it or programmed into it sucks. I will say that the 68RFE has just worked. Granted it shifts strange, Programing issue. But it has held up very well. Fiat just can’t seem to get all the bugs out of their programming. Today everything works right now. Next start the computer forgets to turn things on. Radio, blue tooth, key switch, dash. Things . It’s really fun when you walk out to the truck hit the un lock button get in and find everything DEAD! Only way to get it to wake up is to cycle the lock un lock button until the dash lights up. Then all is good.. That issue the dealer can’t fix. New parts, new flashes. Nothing has resolved it. One day it may just not wake up...
All that said I have driven a few Super Duty’s Not a fan of the V8 but every one I have driven always started and the Radio always turned on. Hands down they have the transmission shifting programming spot on. Their transmission was the most like a manual transmission I have ever driven. Meaning I was always in Controll . No dropping into mutual when coasting down the long hill by my house like my Ram does every other trip even in tow haul mode. What good is an engine brake if the transmission goes into free wheel 1/4 of the way down the hill when you need the brake the most!
Ram needs to get their act together if they expect to keep me as a customer. I don’t care if It’s got a Cp3 or a Cp4-2 for what these trucks cost today It just better work and not live at the dealers service bay for days on end like my last two Rams have. Everyone did not care for Dalmer owning Chrysler back in the day. I will say this quality was way better when they did. My friend’s 04,05,06 and my 05 they just worked and are still working. Yes stupid things did happen. Key switches injectors an a clutch but they never left any of us stranded. If I was buying a truck today I’d probably buy a ford.... like. Said Ram really needs to step it up. And a 12” nav screen that only works sometimes is not the answer.
