Here I am

Anyone know where I can buy individual 68rfe parts?

Hello everyone, I’ve been a lurker here for a long time but finally wanted to ask specific questions.
I’ve got a 2013 ram 3500 mega cab Laramie limited with just shy of 200,000 miles on it.
I’ve maintained the trans per the recommended service intervals and had to replace the solenoid pack around 9 months ago.
Last week while driving along at 45 or so mph the truck just seemed to shift into first gear. I pulled over, shut it off and restarted and it tried to shift into second okay but then dropped back to first. I was a half mile from my cousin’s house and limped it there thinking I’d reached the end of the road for the trans.
Pulled codes and they were all shift codes related to ratios being off so I did a bunch of browsing forums etc and found a couple ideas. Check the input and output speed sensors finding the input was not showing proper resistance so I swapped it thinking I’d found the issue.
It tried to shift better but still dropped to 1st quickly.
Yesterday I pulled the pan to look for anything mechanical, found a torx head sheared off, the washer and a small piece of metal.
Looking at the interior I could see the plate that holds the accumulator valves in place had broken a head off a bolt as well as the corner of the plate away from the bolt remaining.
Pulled the valve body and at first thought I was missing another torx screw so I spent an hour scouring everything I could imagine looking for it.
Zero metal shavings, very slight sludge on the magnet etc. and when I looked closely at the plate it doesn’t show the same wear as the other screw holes and the threads in the valve body look as though they never had a screw installed so I’m confident the screw was left out from the original build. The OD &UD pistons were popped out with the OD piston seal torn.

I really don’t have the funds to replace the trans at this time and would prefer not to just replace the entire valve body though if that’s what it takes I can. I’m hoping I can simply get the OD &UD accumulator pistons and a new plate to patch it up for another few thousand miles while I save up for a new trans or possibly trade the truck for a 2020 with a warranty etc.
Got divorced earlier in ‘19 and that drained my reserves or I’d just have it replaced and keep on going another few years. I’m typically not a guy to take shortcuts but would like a band aid fix for now.

Actually found parts available at a transmission parts house locally.
New sonnex valves and a seriously upgraded plate that had three additional screws I had to drill and tap for.
Installed the accumulators with a total of three rings that were far snugger than the OEM which had an O-ring with a scarf cut ring and the new plate in a couple hours. truck shifts better than I recall it shifting in a long time if ever really. Seems to be relearning on its own which from my reading isn’t ideal but is acceptable.
Replaced the pressure solenoid while I was at it just because I wasn’t sure it hadn’t been damaged.
Total cost was under $300 with filters and fluids so I’m happy to see how it will do.
For all the grief the 68rfe gets I can’t complain much, I tow a 30’ enclosed snowmobile trailer with five sleds in the winter and various toys in the summer, nothing outrageous but noticeable. The trans shift solenoids had to be replaced around 170k and I didn’t notice the accumulator plate missing a screw then but I’m 99.9% sure the screw was never there so it went nearly 200k without self destructing and when it did finally have an issue it wasn’t a total catastrophic failure. I’m pretty good at maintaining it within the service intervals as suggested as well which I suppose helps.
Can’t complain over the service I’ve gotten from an alleged piece of junk transmission.

Dont skip that relearn process, you'll regret it.
Or can you guarantee that you never go above 50% throttle for the next 500 Miles to come?

It's amazing how I've never had a 68rfe failure either and they just keep working. Most of the guys talking trash about them are clueless.
